Review for De boomhut

Review for De boomhut

Review for Suck It Up

Review for Suck It Up

Suck It Up Might write more when I get back from vacation.

This was a really, really fun book to read. It was another creative take on the whole vampire world, in this you got Loners and Leaguers. And with human blood, you also got soy blood, animal blood. So while there are vampires that drink blood from humans (and hurt them), there are also vampires who don’t do that.

Our main character, or should I call him hero, Morning Mccobb is one of those vampires who drink soy blood or Blood Lite. He gets chosen by another vampire (also politician) Birnham, who wants him to campaign for the vampires and out himself so that other vampires can do that too.

Morning actually had other plans, involving lots of nerd stuff and comic reading. Instead he takes on the offer, and flies back to his old home city. There he meets Penny and her daughter Portia. And thus everything starts.

We got various twists and turns in the story, and it is really fun to also get the facts on the whole vampire business and the new and old commandments.

Overall it was a really fun book, and I am looking forward to read book 2, though I am not sure what the story will be there, since well… this one ended pretty conclusive.

I would recommend this book to everyone who likes: vampires, different way of living for vampires, a coming out, a little bit of romance and some silly serial killers. 🙂

Review for The Madness Underneath (Shades of London, #2)

Review for The Madness Underneath (Shades of London, #2)

The Madness Underneath (Shades of London, #2) Finally had a chance to read this book in one go. It was kind of difficult to get in to, and it felt at times that it missed the action of the first book. Luckily it soon recovers and we are throw in a whole new story and a whole new turn.

Rory, well she was nice, but I felt like she lacked a bit. Sure I can imagine having a murderous ghost after you is scary, getting killed too, but well… she just went to school and did nothing? Ok, she grabbed and tried to get through her books a few times but that is that.

We got a whole bunch of new characters, new villains, and more.

But gaaaaahhhhhh at the ending. Finally Stephen and Rory kiss, lots of times and then he just dies? And now we have to wait for the next book???????? No way!!!

But it was a good book, really looking forward to book 3 in this series. I really hope we get more development for the characters and that everything goes ok with everyone.

Review for Loveless, Volume 6

Review for Loveless, Volume 6

Loveless, Volume 6 Finally found this book and bought it. It is so hard to find Tokyopop manga, and although VIZ licensed this manga, they don’t bring out the older volumes in one volume format, no they only do it in a 2 books format. And since I needed 6 and 7, it would mean I would need to buy 2 of those 2 books format things. :\

I really missed this manga, been ages since I last read it, and I can tell you this, it is still awesome and really great.

The illustrations and the little pages with art are really wonderful. Yun Kouga has a lovely art style.

With story, poor Ritsuka, having such a mother, a mother who will tie him down to keep him near her. Scary.

Soubi is still as mysterious as always.

Review for Girl of Nightmares (Anna, #2)

Review for Girl of Nightmares (Anna, #2)

Girl of Nightmares (Anna, #2) Might write a bit more when I am back from vacation.

I can say this though, it was a good book, maybe not as good as the first book though.

The ending was pretty good and conclusive, though I kind of hope to read more about Anna or the main character, I think there isn’t much to say.

I loved our side characters especially Thomas, he was really awesome in this book and his character has really improved since we saw him first in the first book.

There was a great deal of details and fun things to read about. And of course I was rooting for our main character and Anna, they are such a good and fitting couple. 🙂

Also noticed that while there was a bit of cursing, it was less than the first book. So yeah for that.

Review for Dead Is So Last Year (Dead Is, #3)

Review for Dead Is So Last Year (Dead Is, #3)

Dead Is So Last Year (Dead Is, #3) This book was really fun, I liked the idea of someone making clones/doppelgängers, and we finally meet Daisy, Poppy and Rose’s Dad. Though is he really their dad, or is it another doppelgänger?

Daisy is really getting more awesome with every book, I like that she finally gets the hang of her powers, though she should really practice more.

Ryan.. again, I wish he would just talk to people, it would solve a lot of things, and a lot of stuff wouldn’t have happened.

Wolfgang, I didn’t like him from the first time we saw him, but in this book he is more obnoxious than ever. Hitting on someone’s girlfriend, making strange drugs and being an overall pest. I am really hoping, that in the other books that are still coming that he will be nice or at least won’t have a big role.

In overall, a really fun nice and wonderful book. Can’t wait to buy the whole collection of these books. They are short, but still full with fun, and I love their simple covers.

Review for Dead Is a State of Mind (Dead Is, #2)

Review for Dead Is a State of Mind (Dead Is, #2)

Dead Is a State of Mind (Dead Is, #2) Welcome to book two in the Dead Is, series! And what a book it was. It clearly wasn’t a case of second-book-in-a-series-syndrome, thank lord. Always afraid to read a second book, I had a few series where the first book was just awesome, but the second book sucked hard, and thus I dropped it.

We got 3 new characters here, Duke and Elise, and Gage. One is a fortune-teller (or so he says), one is a werewolf/shifter and one is a ghost (a hot one at that though). All play a very important role in the book.

Though I have to say, Duke was just beyond annoying, you later find out why, but throughout the book, I wanted to smack his head for confusing and stalking Daisy.

Ryan… well is Ryan. He never really talks about things, and in this book it is no different. He should have trusted Daisy, but instead he doesn’t, making her worry and understandable also making her pissed off. Luckily at the end of the book they make up and have a good chat about things, a really good chat, one that was really needed at half of this book.

And of course, Daisy, awesome Daisy, our super-sleuth in supernatural things, she still hasn’t got a hang of her powers (she still blows up stuff \o/), but she at least tries.

Poppy + Gage, man, that part made me cry. It was just sooo sad, you knew it was coming, but still it killed me to read about it.

All in all, this book has everything. Sleuthing, a murder, wolves, rabbits, stalker fortune tellers and much much more!

Review for Dead Is the New Black (Dead Is, #1)

Review for Dead Is the New Black (Dead Is, #1)

Dead Is the New Black (Dead Is, #1) This was a very fun book to read. It was a bit like reading Nancy Drew, only now in a supernatural world, where you have physics, monsters and more!

And of course it has more romance.

It was a quite book, Daisy was a really great character, and I was cheering for her a lot. While the world might be pretty much supernatural, the kids are really just normal behaving ones, they have their ups and downs, you got the evil (well kinda) cheerleader squad, they insecure and have their worries.

I really loved Ryan and Daisy, how they got together, they are such a cute couple . They also make a good team for spying/sleuthing.

I also liked that the vampire in this book wasn’t of the bloodsucking kind, but the soul-sucking kind. It was really refreshing.

Daisy’s sisters were OK, but kind of annoying, especially Poppy. Being mean to someone because they are a norm, is just stupid, but being mean to your sister because she is a norm… no just no. :\

In overall, I would recommend this book to everyone who likes the supernatural, likes romance and loves a cool girl who kicks ass.
