How is everyone doing on this Wednesday? Me? I am doing pretty fine, though I am a bit tired. Currently counting down the weeks/days until my vacation starts (only about 4 weeks to go).
Once again I got two books that I am really excited about, so with happiness I can say that this week’s most anticipated books are:
Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong are taking a holiday through Europe on the world-famous Orient Express. From the moment the girls step aboard, it’s clear that each of their fellow first-class passengers has something to hide. Even more intriguing: rumour has it that there is a spy in their midst.
Then, during dinner, there is a bloodcurdling scream from inside one of the cabins. When the door is broken down, a passenger is found murdered, her stunning ruby necklace gone. But the killer is nowhere to be seen – almost as if they had vanished into thin air.
Daisy and Hazel are faced with their first ever locked-room mystery – and with competition from several other sleuths, who are just as determined to crack the case as they are.
It’s his senior year and Will Shea has conned his way into one of the country’s most elite prep schools. But he soon runs into Andrea, a fellow con-artist. With the school not big enough for the both of them, they make a bet that whoever can con Brandt Rush, the richest, most privileged student in the school out of $50K, gets to stay at the school. Will starts setting up his con (an online poker scam) with his uncle who’s one of the best grifters in the business, but also with the unwanted help of his father.. The plot thickens as Will starts falling for fellow student Gatsby, and some of Will’s lies start to catch up with him. In this twisty tale of scams, secrets, lies and deception, it hard to figure out who’s conning who!
So why do I really want to read those books?
First Class Murder (which is a pre-order, that already should say how much I anticipate it), is an easy one, it is a fantastic and fun series and I am so delighted that new books are being made about these 2 girls. These books are filled to the brim with tropes that I really love to read about (Murder/mystery? Check! Boarding Schools (well at least it is a bit presented in this book)? Check! Girl Detectives? Check! Mysterious Events? Check! And I hear that this book will have a mystery on the Orient Express! I loved the Hercule Poirot book about the Orient Express, and I have always been interested in that train, so I can truly not wait for this book to come out. Sadly, I won’t be able to read it immediately, it will be going on my stack of vacation books. 🙂
For the second book, the blurb just sounds fantastically fun. Con artists? Bets? Elite Prep schools? Um, yes please. Also a bit of my love and anticipation for the book is because of the cover, it is simple, but yet it matches the book so well. Poker chips with devil horns and tail? Great!
