Waiting on Wednesday ~ The Uninvited and Sunkissed
Hi!
I hope everyone is doing fine! I will be soon making some blog posts, so that when I am on vacation, you all still will have posts to enjoy. No reviews (though I believe I have 2 planned ARC reviews that are coming up), but I will post meme posts of the books that I am planning to read during my vacation.
Let’s start talking books, shall we? This week’s most anticipated books are:
Twenty-five year old Ivy Rowan rises from her bed after being struck by the flu, only to discover the world has been torn apart in just a few short days.
But Ivy’s life-long gift—or curse—remains. For she sees the uninvited ones—ghosts of loved ones who appear to her, unasked, unwelcomed, for they always herald impending death. On that October evening in 1918 she sees the spirit of her grandmother, rocking in her mother’s chair. An hour later, she learns her younger brother and father have killed a young German out of retaliation for the death of Ivy’s older brother Billy in the Great War.
Horrified, she leaves home, to discover the flu has caused utter panic and the rules governing society have broken down. Ivy is drawn into this new world of jazz, passion, and freedom, where people live for the day, because they could be stricken by nightfall. But as her ‘uninvited guests’ begin to appear to her more often, she knows her life will be torn apart once more, but Ivy has no inkling of the other-worldly revelations about to unfold.
Kat can’t believe her family are sending her to Sweden for the summer. But without her friends, or even a phone signal, can Kat make it on her own?
In a land of saunas, nudity and summer sun, Kat soon realises she has nowhere to hide. It’s time to embrace who she really is, underneath what she’s been thinking people want her to be. Especially if she’s going to win the heart of mega fit Swede Leo! Can Kat find her inner strength and prove she’s got what it takes?
Kat soon finds that when you’re surrounded by phosphorescence and wonder it’s easy to sparkle. Or maybe that’s what happens when you fall in love . Or maybe you only shine when you’re true to yourself.
So why do I really want to read those books?
The Uninvited: Let’s just say I have been looking around for a good horror/paranormal book again, and I know that Cat Winters has the talent to write a haunting tale (I love her book In the Shadow of Blackbirds), so I am really exciting about this one. I also love historical fiction, and this one touches on quite an interesting time period, which I hope is written in this book in great detail.
Sunkissed: The third book in this amazingly fun series about 4 friends who drifted apart. Each of the books is about a different friend and this time we have Kat as the main character. I am really excited to read her story, though I have to be honest and say I am also sad that the cover is so different from the others. Of course I pre-ordered it, but if a cover comes out that matches my series I will probably buy that and sell the other one. Back to the book, I can’t wait to read this, I am sure it will be hilarious and I am curious about the setting which is set in Sweden. 🙂
