The book was terribly fun, but sadly the ending was super rushed. It is time for vacation for our two characters, summer vacation is here and they will be having 6 weeks of vacation, 42 days of doing nothing but fun things. And that was all fun, and I was looking forward to it. I even liked how Iggy was all nervous about it, she really loves school and just didn’t want it to end. Luckily, the teacher had a solution, Iggy could do a very important (and fun) job during the holidays!
Most of the book is about the family going to the seaside for 6 days, and I just reading the stories about their trips, the seaside and other stuff. However, I didn’t like how it ended. One moment they are at the imaginary Butterfly world, and BANG the next chapter is them going back to school. Wait, what? What happened to going back home? What happened to Iggy’s new friend (are they going to send letter or something else)? What happened to the rest of the 5 weeks that were left? I was utterly confused and also disappointed. I had a feeling the book would be over soon, but I had hoped that we would just get a bit of a notice on that they went back home, had a few lovely calm weeks of vacation. Instead it is BANG school. And I really have to say the book loses a whole star on that. I am sure even kids will be confused how they went from vacation and 5 weeks left to suddenly and magically school.
The characters were fun though. Flo is a great sister, the parents are just the best and sweetest, they just know exactly how to handle their kids, especially Iggy. And Iggy, well she is just adorable. How she did the packing for vacation was just brilliant. She and Clyde were adorable together, they really were instant friends.
There are also illustrations in this book and they were really good, though Iggy looks a bit off at times. All the other humans look just normal, but Iggy’s head/body look a bit weird.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, yes I would. This is a fun book to read, and you will fly through it, all the while laughing at the silly things that Iggy and her family do.
