Review for Sisters (Re-Read)

Review for Sisters (Re-Read)

17801394So yesterday I was in a re-read mood (still am, but less), and wanted to read Smile. Then I couldn’t find Smile, and since it was 2.30am I just didn’t have it in me to check further, so I just grabbed Sisters. 🙂

This was just as fun as I remembered, back when I first read it in 2014, the only thing I didn’t particularly like was the fact that the sisters kept fighting, and that I had a big annoyance towards the youngest sister. I kept wondering if she was really her age, or just a baby.

But other than that, I enjoyed everything. The road trip (I just love books with road trips in them as that means I get to see the country a bit more), the flashbacks to how Raina got her sister, her brother, and how her dad got laid off from work, how everything came together what it is now. I love that she picked this format, didn’t go for all flashbacks in the beginning, but instead just spread them throughout the book. Luckily you could easily see it when a flashback happened (different page colours + characters look younger).

I did feel for Raina, but also her parents, and her siblings. There just wasn’t any room for the kids any more. Nor for the parents. Raina did get her own room, but that was at the cost of her parents having to sleep in the living room.

Raina Telgemeier’s art is as much fun as it always is. She has a really nice style. 🙂

What more? Mm, not much. I did love what happened near the end when the sisters were stuck on the side of the road. 😛 Poor Raina.

The ending was quite sad, for the mom, but also for the kids. I saw it coming from far though. You could just see it.

All in all, I would recommend this book to everyone.
