I am delighted to participate in the book blitz for Horribly Marvelous: The Diary of Cyndi Victoria Chase! From what I can read from the blurb it is an action-packed book with mystery, space adventures, hot guys, superpowers, and more! I also definitely love the cover, it is simple, but if you look close enough you will see that it is a diary, just with some added blood. 😛
So for this Book Blitz I got information on the book (plus a trailer) and the author, but I also got a deleted scene from the book, and a giveaway (50$ Gift Card).
Let’s get started, shall we?
Cyndi Victoria Chase’s junior year was supposed to be about fun and getting into college while desperately dodging the pitfalls of being awkward and painfully self-conscious. All of that was derailed when the massacre of two of her Alonis Academy classmates marked the beginning of a local epidemic. That did not sit well with Cyndi, who is a highly imaginative girl living in her own “Naturally Augmented Reality” where she can flawlessly detect when someone is lying and see people’s words come to life right in front of her eyes. She’ll discover that she’s up against a vicious trans-dimensional and intergalactic threat that has dropped chaos upon her life, school, and town. Cyndi is Cyndi and will always be compelled to fight back; her powerful foes better be prepared for a battle that will become historic throughout the galaxy.
This book is part of the Marvelous World series published by Simon and Schuster and Random House Listening Library.

Deleted scenes time! I had a big picking of things to post here, but I decided to go for the deleted scene, it just was so much fun to read that one.
This scene was originally after Cyndi’s best friend Jewels show Cyndi a mobile phone recorded video of a a super-powered individual who likes to have fun a rob banks.
Writing in my diary and studying were all I could do to take my mind off of the fact that my father believes that a super-powered bank robbing alien has something to do with me and my future. It had him so distraught that he could not even deal with me. Sure, my life is filled with the impossible but this is a bit much.
I spent 7:42 pm to 10:53 pm reading and memorizing everything in the first few chapters of my physics, sociology, and philosophy books– all written by my professors. If I challenge them they can retort with “I wrote the book.” #UnF_cWitable.
Teachers repeatedly snap questions at us and I REFUSE REFUSE REFUSE to be caught off guard and embarrassed by not knowing the answer. Everyone thinks I’m innately smart like Jayson and everyone else there; why wouldn’t they– I’m at the top of my class. Yeah, but I’m a clever imposter that’s using a super power to get over; they’d never guess that even with my “granted wish” I just can’t get around how long it can take me to figure things out. So, I don’t know if the joke is on them or me.
Whatevas because I’m going to figures all of this stuff out.
I think physics- more specifically quantum physics, is the key to me finding out about my powers and what was in that video. I’m sure that being around these progressive genius professors who are doing amazing research will lead me on the trail to figure out how and why my “wishes” for what I call my super powers were granted.
One thing I don’t believe in is baseless rule breaking Deus ex Machina magic or solutions. Instead, I believe in the beautiful elegant scientific laws of the universe that may yet to be discovered and allow the impossible to happen. If I knew those laws maybe I could control them and bend and shape things as I see fit. #idrunthings Whoever robbed the bank in that video– no matter if they are an alien or not knows what I and the rest of the planet clearly don’t.
I think Professor Lundron is the guy who will bring me out of the darkness. That physicist is a pure genius in every sense of the word– 29 years old with two PhDs. He believes that the impossible does not exist and even the most insane occurrence can be explained. I blurted out my aforementioned line “…beautiful elegant scientific laws of the universe…” in class once. “May I quote you on that?” he asked. “Sure, just give me my credit,” I replied and we’ve been really cool ever since. I’ve come so close to telling him about my abilities. I haven’t because of two reasons 1. I couldn’t stand the feeling of someone I respected as much as him looking at me as if I was an alien or crazy. Sure he believes in the impossible but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t think I was mental. 2. Dad told me NEVER to tell anyone. NEVER. Not even Jayson or mom.
Regardless of what I decide to tell him or not, he owes me. I am the one that made the love connection between him and Ellie. He’s as smart as I said he is but kind of lacks the creatively to apply his brilliance to the everyday practical world, like most academics. Ellie is no book genius but when it comes to practical knowledge she’s a goddess and pretty much put his entire life in order.
