Review for The Secret Life of Squirrels: A Love Story

Review for The Secret Life of Squirrels: A Love Story

Nancy Rose’s 3rd book about Squirrels, and yet again another favourite of mine.

The first book was an introduction to Mr. Peanuts and him writing letters and visiting family. The next one took place during Christmas. And this one? It takes place a bit before Valentine’s Day.

This time Mr. Peanuts (I just adore that name) was looking for a friend, for someone to spend Valentine’s Day with. We see him go through his neighbourhood, and read books (yes, I loved that part so much), and find someone. They quickly fell in love, and it was just so adorable to see them get together. The ending? It was adorable! I was squeeing and awwwing a whole lot during those later pages.

I love, and admire, how the author went through hundreds, if not more, photographs to find the perfect ones for this book, and then write a whole story around it. I know with previous ones she already stated she went through a lot of photographs, and it was also highlighted in this one again. You must have a lot of patience to a) wait for the squirrels and then b) make a lot of shots and hope that one is right. Plus considering the story you will also have to wait until there are 2 of them at the same place in the right position. Boy, I can’t even imagine the work.

I will definitely be re-reading this one for Valentine’s Day, it is the perfect read for that day.

I would highly recommend this book (and also the other 2 books) to everyone.
