Review for Catdoodles: The Cat Lovers Drawing Book

Review for Catdoodles: The Cat Lovers Drawing Book

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

This looked absolutely adorable, cute, and fluffy, so I was looking forward to reading this book. Sadly, the rest of the book’s art wasn’t as good. It had a few good moments, but mostly the art was too simple/childish, a bit too much like an unfinished sketchbook with bad tries included. Which is a shame. I can see the potential in this doodle book, but it doesn’t come to full bloom.

Plus I should have known that these kind of books just don’t work on a tablet/ebook format, but I just keep hoping it is an exception, just like some other likewise themed books I have read. I just don’t understand why these books get e-ARCs. The book relies heavily on interaction and you just can’t do that on a tablet/e-reader. Now I was just bored and flipping through the pages of cats or emptiness (where cats are supposed to go). And that certainly didn’t help my rating. If I had gotten this one as a physical copy I may have rated this one much higher.

Also it feels like it could use a bit more. The book is quite short, and I feel like it could have been expanded much further.

So all in all, a disappointment.
