Review for If My Dogs Were a Pair of Middle-Aged Men
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I just love The Oatmeal’s art/comics, and so when I saw this one as a Read Now up on Netgalley I just had to get it. It may not contain much new things (since I follow The Oatmeal on Twitter), but I still wanted it.
And in the end, it was indeed just the comics which I already read on his site (with a few changes at times it seems, maybe to make it more seller-friendly?). But oh well, it was fun to read them again, to see him and his dogs (or should I say middle-aged men) and see what happens in their life.
It is still a brilliant idea to draw draw middle-aged men instead of dogs. It just fits too well, way too well actually, and some scenes made me laugh so loudly (like the bath scene with the POOF, or the mailman and their reaction to it).
At times I just felt so sorry for Matt, it is one thing when it is dogs, but when it is dogs draw as middle-aged men, it just makes situations so much worse (like the bum licking in full view of Matt).
Matt’s drawing style is still a favourite of mine.
All in all, this was definitely fun to read and I would recommend it!
