This week’s Waiting on Wednesday is about/for Screenshot, the newest book by Donna Cooner. It is a book that will come out in 20 days (still so long to go). A book about an embarrassing video, about a girl who is learning a fast lesson that what is on the internet doesn’t leave like that when you delete something. Someone has a screenshot, and potentially more! I am quite curious what the video is about, what is so shocking about that one frame that someone made a screenshot of. And I am also curious as to what Skye will do to keep this screenshot (and more) from leaking. How far will she go to keep her privacy/perfect image up? Will she eventually just talk to an adult about it (I am guessing not, given that is how it generally goes in books about teens getting in trouble with social media/deletion of stuff)? And a very important question, who is out to ruin Skye’s life? A close friend? Someone she doesn’t know? Ah, I want to know!
I also quite like how the cover is a mash-up of all sorts of selfies/normal photographs. How very fitting for the theme of the book.
Well, just 20 days to go, I can’t wait to try this book out.
Skye’s social media game is always on point. Until her best friend, Asha, films an embarrassing video of Skye at a sleepover and posts it online. But Asha quickly deletes the post, so everything’s okay. Right? Then Skye gets an anonymous message. Someone has texted her a screenshot from the video. This person threatens to share the shocking photo online . . . unless Skye does whatever they say. Skye’s perfect image — and privacy — are suddenly in jeopardy. What will Skye do to keep the screenshot under wraps? And who is trying to ruin her life?
