Waiting on Wednesday ~ Vox
Evening y’all,
Welcome to a new Waiting on Wednesday, this week a book that I am really curious and interested in. I found it through Hebban.nl, read a haunting excerpt that promised a world in which women can only talk 100 words a day! And women aren’t even allowed out of the country as their passports are declined or taken away from them. Yup, pretty horrifying (especially as it seems that even her husband and sons didn’t understand the gravity of the whole situation) and I am curious to see if our MC is able to stand up for her voice, for her daughter, for her fellow women.
Guess I will have to see if I can buy it on Amazon or Book Depository soon.
On the day the government decrees that women are no longer allowed more than 100 words daily, Dr. Jean McClellan is in denial–this can’t happen here. Not in America. Not to her.
This is just the beginning.
Soon women can no longer hold jobs. Girls are no longer taught to read or write. Females no longer have a voice. Before, the average person spoke sixteen thousand words a day, but now women only have one hundred to make themselves heard.
But this is not the end.
For herself, her daughter, and every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice.
