Good morning all!
Happy Sunday and welcome to a new tag! The Reading Habits Tag~ I have seen this one floating around the net all this week and I decided to participate. I am just having so much fun with all these tags that are popping up, and I love seeing everyone do them and read the answers.
I found this tag on Leafing Through Time.
1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Nope, I read everywhere. Though two of my favourite spots would be my bed and my huge beanbag in my library attic.
2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Well, I would love to see bookmark (and I got many of those that I should use), but generally I end up using nothing or just something random that I find lying near me. Things like usb sticks, or lipgloss or pens.
3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?
I can stop wherever I want. Which makes me happy as my husband needs to finish a chapter and can’t just randomly stop and that sounds very annoying to me.
4. Do you eat or drink while reading?
Yep to both. I drink water/tea while reading. I don’t really snack, but I do read while eating breakfast/lunch and sometimes also during dinner.
5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
Music. I can also read while the TV is on, but I barely watch TV. I love putting on music and it doesn’t have to be anything about the book. I just go to Youtube or Spotify and grab some nice bouncy beats.
6. One book at a time or several at once?
I prefer one book, but I can also read several at once. I especially do this when I have books that are OK, but not that exciting. So I read one book that is exciting and then just read bits and pieces of the other book whenever I feel like it.
7. Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere! At home, in my garden, when I am outside and need to wait, wherever I can I read.
8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Um, I guess silently in my head though my voice is a bit loud at times. 😛
9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
Sometimes I do. Like this week, I was reading a thriller that had one POV that was just annoying me plus the story was OK but not pulling me in yet, so I read the ending and then went back to the point where I originally was and from that point I read the book in one go. Because now I knew it would get good, plus it was fun that I already knew things and saw everything click together. But again, sometimes. Generally I don’t.
10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
OH GOD NO. I don’t break the spine. I try to keep it as new. 99% of the time I manage to do this, but 1% it have a crease in my spine.
11. Do you write in your books?
Nope, nope nope nope. Never. Books are for reading, not to write or draw in. If I want to remember something I write it down somewhere else or I put in little bits of paper to remind me of things.
1. When do you find yourself reading?
Whenever I can. Anytime I have a moment for myself I read.
2. What is your best setting to read in?
I don’t really have one best setting. I can read anywhere.
3. What do you do first — read or watch?
I prefer to read first. Though it also depends on the movie/material. If I am more interesting in the movie than movie first.
4. What form do you prefer? Audiobook, e-book, or physical book?
Physical. I love flipping through the books, smell the pages, see how far I am in the book and see that progress. I love bringing books with me everywhere and during my yearly camping trip I take a big crate of books with me to read (and some books for my hubby). Ebooks are fun, but even with a Kindle my eyes hurt and my head starts complaining after a while. And audiobooks… my ADHD and that just doesn’t work. I really have to force myself to focus and that is not something that is good for me.
5. Do you have a unique habit when you read?
Mm, not that I can think of. Though apparently, I don’t even notice it all the time, I absentmindedly hold my finger to the top right corner of the book and let my finger slide down the pages, I am really not sure how to explain it correctly so I hope this explanation works. But my hubby knows that when I am deep in a book I am doing this. 😛 And yes, I got some papercuts due to that, which I didn’t/don’t notice until I came back out of the book.
6. Do book series have to match?
Oh, yes. Heck yes. I hate it when series just don’t match and look weird on my shelves. For instance The Diviners series. They really screwed that one up badly. So yeah, sometimes to quite often? I just wait with buying a series until it is completely done. Which is hard, as I often just want to start already.
And that was it! Boy, this was just too much fun to do. I LOVE book tags and I can’t wait what the next one will be that pops up in the blogosphere. I am not going to tag anyone, if you want to do this one be sure to do it! And if you can let me know that you did it. I love seeing other blogger’s answers.
