Review for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Vol.2 + Vol.3

Naoko Takeuchi, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol. 1, Magical Girl, Sailor Moon, Fantasy, Villains, Battles, Mystery, Secrets, Transformations, Cute, Fun, Blonde Hair, Sailor Outfit, Manga, Romance, Cover Love, Friendship, Cats, Ami, Sailor MercuryA combined review for this wonderful series that I am delighted to be re-reading. Secrets are revealed, pasts are uncovered, there is romance, tears, battles, and more.

Volume 2: Star rating, 4 stars: I am so glad I am re-reading this series, it is a fantastic series. In this one we finally have memories being unlocked (and I still found it hilarious no one thought Sailor V was part of their group and I found it even more hilarious that they thought she was the princess due to what Artemis said). We go to the moon. And oh lord, I cried quite a few times during this book. How everything ended for the Moon Kingdom, and how things seem to repeat again. The villains were awesome, but very very evil. I did feel sorry for the four soldiers and their memories.
I loved seeing Usagi turn to princess, though that moment was ruined when Mamo was kidnapped right before her eyes. Poor Usagi. She is finally finding out all about everything in her previous life and what she is now, and then this happens. I do like that she is a bit more mature at times. Yes, she is still a klutz, but she does show she can be mature and a leader. I cannot wait for the next volume, though I am also worried as I know that Chibi-Usa (the worst character in the franchise) pops up. 😐

The third volume and this time the girls are battling Queen Metalia (and Beryl). They are trying to save Tuxedo Mask and hoping to that things will turn out. It was a very exciting volume, maybe a tad too fast paced for me at times. We barely have time to celebrate before the next enemy appears. I guess that some time did pass, be for me it just felt like a couple of days. I would have liked the story to be a bit more slower so we could enjoy it more.
Not to mention that the biggest and most horrible character was added to the story at this point, Chibi-Usagi. Sorry, I just never was a fan of the girl, not with how she appeared, claimed Mamo, claimed Usagi’s family. I guess we are supposed to feel sorry for her, but I just never liked her and my liking never went up no matter how far we get in the story. I feel it would have been better if this character was added a couple more volumes down the line.
But I did love the girls and seeing Usagi get more and more mature. She was so brave in this one, yes, she cried, but wouldn’t anyone when faced with death, pain, and the loss of dear ones? Yet, she still continued and I love that. Go Usagi!
I can’t wait to see how the Black Moon saga continues, while I am not a fan of Chibi-Usa, I do love this story.
And yes, there were parts of this manga that had me crying.
