Review for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Vol.4 + Vol.5
The Dark Moon saga continues and Chibi-Usa is still a brat extraordinaire. This is a review for Volume 4 + 5.
Volume 4: : The fourth volume and the stealing of senshi continues as in this one Sailor Jupiter gets kidnapped. But thankfully that stops when our crew heads to the future and meet themselves (which must be quite a shock). I do have questions. Chibi-Usa knows darn well that Usagi is her mom, she knows that stealing the silver crystal WON’T work, why does she do it then? Why does she keep interfering? Also, it seems that Chibi-Usa just loves stealing stuff from people, especially her mom. We learn how things went wrong and wow. Girl, you are 900 years old, get over it and learn a bit. Dumb brat. Plus, how did Mamo and Usagi not know that Chibi-Usa was their child? It was quite obvious. 😛 There are also some other things that had me wondering. Plot holes? There is a sweet sweet scene between Mamo and Usagi that had me squeeing in delight. I loved that Usagi is really growing, becoming more mature and caring. She did some very brave things in this book that I just adored. There is Dark Moon awesomeness, and a lot of creepiness (that kiss and that forcing upon Sailor Moon had me not happy). The art was once again gorgeous.
Volume 5:
: The conclusion to the Black Moon saga (and the beginning of a new one I am guessing, these poor girls never have a moment rest). I disliked Chibi-Usa so so so much. I get that she wants to be an adult, it must be horrible to be 900 years old and not get bigger. But bitch, no. The things she did in this one were just horrible. She is selfish, horrendous, and should understand things a bit more. And oh boy that incest. Girl, I get that you are infatuated with your daddy, but oh no you don’t do shit like this. That is just gross disgusting. This was a tough volume to read. I didn’t like that Chibi-Usa got to have powers. It felt a bit like, aww you poor poor thing, you did shitty things but it is OK, you had a harsh past. Here some magical powers to make things go away.
I loved how the Dark Moon saga ended though, and I loved the love and compassion that Usagi showed in this one. Wiseman was just freaking creepy and a manipulative ass.
I felt so sorry for Pluto. The decisions she had to make in this one were heartbreaking.
I wasn’t happy with the ending. Could we please just have a volume or two without that little brat? Please? Please?
Gorgeous art though, it just pulls you in.
