Review for I Don’t Like Books. Never. Ever. The End.

I Don't Like Books. Never. Ever. The End., Emma Perry, Sharon Davey, Books, Chair, Girl, Reading, Picture Books, Children's Books, Fantasy, Magic, Intervention, Blue, HumourMeet Mabel.. she HATES books.. but then one day something magical happens.

I just couldn’t resist this book when I spotted it as a new book in one of my library’s catalogues. This is definitely not my kind of girl, but the blurb promised something magical. Not to mention that cover is adorable. The girl is surrounded by books, and yet she doesn’t care.

Meet Mabel, a girl who keeps getting books from everyone, for many reasons, but never wants to open them. Read them. I was amazed that she didn’t want to read, oh boy, if you gave me those books I would have devoured them on the spot. Nom nom. At first I was just a bit sad that this kid missed out on the worlds and that she just let all those books just lay around… but then I got a bit angry when she started abusing the books. Using them as utensils. Using them as a way to go down the stairs (that was just TOO much).

Thankfully the books are now up in arms and ready for an intervention. And so we see the magic happen and I was just delighted what the books did to make the girl see. To make the girl see that books are meant to be read. Are meant to bring you to new worlds. New adventures.

The ending was magnificent and just had me smiling a lot.

The illustrations were also a lot of fun and I loved the style.

All in all, an adorable and magical book about books, books, and the love for reading.
