The Hallotober Tag

The Hallotober Tag

Afternoon all,

Hallotober Tag, Halloween, Horror, Questions, Pumpkin, Forest, Answers, Tag

Welcome to the Hallotober Tag! I am HYPED to be part as I just love Halloween. It may be a bit hard to answer some of the questions as Halloween isn’t a huge big thing here in my country (though it is growing), but I will do my best!

Mmm, I am not sure I am going to be tagging 13 people. I would, but um, by the time this post is up (in about a week) I am sure most people I would tag, are already tagged, so for now I would just say, everyone go for it!

🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

1. What’s your favourite thing about October?

Fall, Falling Leaves, Trees, Orange, Yellow, GIF
The falling leaves, the fact it gets colder and that I can wear my favourite sweaters again and can snuggle up with a hot water bottle in bed, that I can sit in the attic with my books and hear the rain tiptapping on the windows. Halloween of course. That it gets darker earlier.

2. Are you a big celebrator of Halloween?
Yes, I am. Ever since I learned about it as a child through movies and books I wanted to celebrate it. I wanted to go trick or treating. I wanted to wear a costume. Sadly, it is still not a big thing here and I never did either of those things. But when I started living on my own I went to celebrate it my way. And it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I carved my first pumpkin. For Halloween I decorate the house, make sure there is some spooky candy around (though this year I guess I will have to do without as online is just too expensive), make sure I got a list of movies to watch.

3. What’s your favourite horror movie?
Ringu, Horror, Girl, Well, Forest, Trees, White Dress, Black Hair, GIF
Oh boy, I got many! But let’s see, Ringu, Grudge, and Dark Water are three of my favourites. The Japanese versions of course, not the lame US remakes. Bah.

4. Would you rather a cosy night in watching horrors or a big night out in a costume?
Halloween isn’t that here. We don’t do trick or treating, if it happens that is for the tiniest ones of us. The adults… I believe there are Halloween parties.. but yeah only in the last few years has that popped up. So I will go for a cosy night in watching horror movies.

5. Which has been your most favourite costume to date?
I don’t wear costumes on Halloween as that is not a thing here.

6. Bobbing for apples or pin the hat on the witch?
never done either on Halloween. We have done bobbing for apples during other days (birthdays or parties). Not even sure what hat on the witch is?

7. How do you celebrate Halloween?
On October 1st I decorate the house with spooky decorations, buy mini and bigger pumpkins to put around the house and outside. On the day self I watch scary movies, wear one of my spooky dresses (this year probably one from Nightmare before Christmas), eat yummy candy.

8. What’s your least favourite horror?
These days that would be anything with gore.

9. Do you have a favourite trick or treating memory?
We don’t do trick or treating here. The past 2-ish years I have noticed that there are some streets that do it, but not everyone and I believe a lot is based on sign-ups so that people can prepare for it.

10. What’s your favourite thing about Halloween?

GIF, Ghost, Haunting, Spooky
I love the spookiness of it all. You can go all scary or more spoopy. I love how well it fits with October, the month when the days get even shorter and the darkness is settling in. I love finding candy for Halloween. I could probably go on for a while. 🙂

11. Scary costume or Silly costume?
Since I don’t wear a costume I guess I am OK with both.

12. What’s your favourite Halloween candy?
I don’t have a favourite. I only started eating Halloween candy when I started finding it at the candy stores about 3-5 years ago. While I did find some I love, I haven’t found a favourite yet.

13. What is the spookiest thing that has ever happened to you around this holiday, or the month of October in general?
Oh boy. I can remember some spooky things happening. Let’s think. Ah, a recent thing that happened last year, and probably will happen this year as we moved last year. There is a lamp on our shed that is movement-sensitive. Sometimes it will just go on. While there is nothing there. Nothing that should have triggered it. During the spring/summer months it gets dark pretty late, so it is no problem. But during October it gets dark earlier so yeah. I remember watching something scary on Netflix, alone at home, when suddenly the light would just go on. But nothing is there. A few minutes later it goes off again and I just went on with watching my show, but not 15 minutes later it pops on again. You can imagine I was spooked out the whole evening.

  1. Such a fun tag! Our community doesn’t do a lot for Halloween either. We are planning to go on vacation around that time, so I am hoping for some excitement.

    1. It is! Aww, that is a shame, it is such a fun holiday and I would love it to get more known/celebrated. Oh, were are you going? Hope you have a good one (with excitement).

  2. Thanks for doing the tag! Your answers were so fun ☺
I keep forgetting that Halloween isn’t celebrated everywhere. I had no clue the Netherlands didn’t celebrate – but at least there are some small gatherings, now!

Also on your last question…the same thing has been happening to me too! Our front porch light is on a sensor and lately, it’s just been turning off and on for no reason. I’ve been up a lot until 1-2 am recently and every time I turn out the living room lights the porch light comes on. I peek out, no one is there.

Or at least, no one I can see…Have you thought about snapping a camera every now and then when the light comes on above your shed? You might catch something! ☺

    1. You’re welcome, thanks again for tagging me, I love Halloween!
Yes, I am very happy that slowly things are starting up here. Glad that some kids get to experience trick or treating!

OMG! One could make a horror story about light sensors I guess. That sounds spooky, especially around that time when everyone is asleep. Creepy!
Mm, maybe I should do that. I haven’t tried yet, as I hadn’t thought of that idea. Kind of curious what I may see. Hopefully an animal or something else cute, and not something spooky. 😱

  3. This was so much fun to read! I’ve never really done Halloween but definitely love the turn to autumn with all the rich colours and being able to snuggle under a blanket.
