Review

I received this book from the tour company/publisher/author in exchange of an honest review.

In this book a family has a lost their pet, Tiger, and so they decide to release balloons as a way of mourning the loss in a special way. The parents tell the kids a whole story on where the balloons will go. From their home to much higher, much further. Meeting all sorts of people (like Santa!) and seeing all sorts of fun sights. Going higher and higher and I was just having such fun seeing the balloons enjoy their flight. Sure, I had to get used that the balloons had hands and teeth and such, but haha, in the end I can say I did like that extra touch. I really loved it when the balloons reached their destination. That is definitely a place I hope my pets are also at. A beautiful and always sunny place to play, to enjoy their days.

But the adult in me just cannot stop wondering if balloons are such a good solution in a time that we think about the environment a lot more. I mean it is cute and a very sweet solution, and I remember that as a kid there was so much fun in releasing balloons in the wild. Seeing them go up. Not knowing how far they would go. But I am just older now, and I know what damage they can do.
Sorry for that, just when I saw it, I just got such conflicting feelings. On the one hand nostalgia, on the other hand, oh no. So don’t take it the wrong way, but I do feel I have to add it to my review.

The art was really fun (and also quite adorable), again, I had to get used to the balloons being alive, but after that I liked that the illustrator went for that.

Plus, I liked that last photograph + the extra information!

All in all, I really had fun reading this book. I love that it rhymed, I loved all the things that happened on each page, the letters/pictures the balloons held were so sweet and cute. I would recommend this one!
