Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag 2021 Edition
Afternoon all!
Welcome all, it is time again for the Mid-Year Freak Out tag! This time for 2021! We are already (where did the time go) at the half-way mark of the year.
Just like last year I got some fun questions to answer and I had tons of fun thinking what books I should pick. Because I read plenty this year and still have plenty to read~
I am not too sure who the original creator is of this tag, so shoot me a comment if you know/want me to add that. I found this one on Dream Come Review, be sure to check out her answers.
Oh my! I know last year this one was hard as well! *scrolls through her list and wants to select all those amazing books* OK, I will go for this one! This one was just so twisty/turny, never knowing, and always exciting.
2.) What is the best sequel you have read so far in 2021?
This one! And I got some others, haha. But let’s just keep it at this one. I really enjoyed the next adventures of Mickey and her fellow spies.
3.) What is a new release that you haven’t read yet but want to?
This book! Sadly, Amazon doesn’t have it in stock/at all, I pre-ordered it in April/May and I desperately want to read it! I also got some other books (Rule of Wolves, Squad Goals) that I really want to read but I am saving them for my vacation in August.
4. What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
I got multiple books, though most are for the upcoming 2 months. I generally look per month if there is something. There are a few exceptions of course.
5. What was your biggest disappointing book so far?
I have read a few very disappointing reads this year. But I don’t add them to my shelves unless I read a fair chunk of the book. Apparently that just leaves this book. I recently tried reading it and I just well, wasn’t a fan. The MC was just a bit too gung-ho on politics, feminism and I found her mostly mean/rude/condescending. The relationship was just toxic given they fought so many times/got back together. Or how she just drove 8 hours to his house to see him for the very first time. NOPE.
6. What was your biggest surprising book so far?
This one! It was just so stunning and beautiful with a very surprising ending. It is about a granddaughter and her grandmother going on a trip because it isn’t going well with grandmother and at the place she lives now she just gets drugged. The trip is full of feelings, emotions, and more, and I was just crying at times. I hadn’t expected this to be such a heavy book, a book that would grab me and one I wouldn’t forget.
7. Who is your favorite new author (debut or new to you)?
I discovered various new authors this year. I got two favourites though! S.T. Gibson and Riley Sager!
8. Who is your new fictional crush?
Oh yes! I just have to mention my vampire woman, Constanta! She comes from the book A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson and I just love her!
9. Who is your newest favorite character?
This year I don’t have a favourite character yet! I have met many characters, but none had that OMG this is the one vibe.
10. What books made you cry?
Haha, still a lot of them. While things are looking up some more here in my country, until May it was just not an easy time. Hopefully next year my mental health is better with the world a healthier/safer place.
11. What is one book that made you happy?
Definitely this book. That just brought a big smile on my face as we read about a boy who tells us about his father.
12. What is the most beautiful book you have bought or received so far this year?
This one, definitely this one. His debut book: Confettiregen was one of my favourites last year, and this book is it for this year. It is a beautiful book about the author but also about the letters and what they say. I cried, laughed, cheered.
13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Haha, toooooo many! I mean books just keep on getting added. I keep finding new books that I just need to read. As soon as possible.
That concludes this tag! This was so much fun to do, definitely one I want to do each year! So look forward to 2022. I cannot wait to see what my Mid-Year Check In will have for me next year! I hope you all enjoyed my answers and maybe found some books to read! Have a great day, thanks for reading~
