Review for A Child Called You
I received this book from the publisher/author in exchange of an honest review.
When I got the mail I just couldn’t say no. An inspirational picture book about being kind, no judgement, about being You. It sounded just like a book I need at this moment with COVID swarming around us.
This short book is all about YOU, yes, me and you. Haha. You get what I mean. It is an inspirational children’s book about what you can do and what you are. It talks about seeing people for who they are and not for what they did, they talk about hate and that you should stand up against it. Don’t judge. Help people. Be kind to your parents (or be warned their hair may just go up in flames, which sorry had me laughing instead of thinking that she was scary). How you can make a difference! It was really motivational.
Sometimes books like this may come across as preachy, but I never felt that way while reading this one.
I always love it when books read in a book is the one I am reading now. I really loved seeing the grandfather and the granddaughter read this book together. That was a nice touch and I hope the granddaughter learned some new things!
I do have to say at times it felt a bit chaotic, I am trying to think how to explain it better, but some pages just didn’t flow together, didn’t seem to match.
I am so happy to see such diversity in a book! We not only have various skin colours, but also short and tall kids, a kid in a wheelchair. And I also really liked the artstyle, it was such a nice one.
All in all, I had fun reading this one! I am glad I had the chance to read it, so thank you to the author/publisher for giving me a chance!
