A big BERZERKER welcome to the Blog Tour for Barb The Last Berzerker by Dan Abdo & Jason Patterson! I am so so so excited to be on the tour and be able to read the book early! dances

So for today’s post I got a 4.5 starred review and book/author information!

Let’s get this tour started~

Review

I received this book from the publisher/TBR and Beyond Tours in exchange of an honest review~

So I am very sparse with doing reviews for blog tours, but this one I just couldn’t resist. A graphic novel? Check. Fantasy setting with a seemingly awesome character? Check. A quest? Check. And I am so happy I had the chance to read this book because I had so much fun!

In this book we meet BARB, sorry I just have to put it in caps because she is that awesome. Barb is one of the last berzerkers.. the rest has sadly been captured by an evil (well, ish) wizard who was sick and tired of things. But Barb is not afraid, she’s got a sword, and she is meeting all sorts of friends. Including friends that she shouldn’t be making, like Porkchop a yeti. Monsters are not supposed to be friends but I love that Barb was finding out that monsters aren’t so bad. I loved following Barb as she goes on quests, adventures, and finds warriors to help her with the evil wizard in Witch’s Head. Barb was a really great character and I love that, despite the very not happy situation, she keeps on going. I loved seeing her in Shadow Blade mode, she looked so cool there.

There was a moment of confusion as we went from her escaping Witch’s Head to having a friend, but thankfully the authors give us a backstory in a fun way! One that fills up all the gaps. I do have to say I was a bit worried if we would get it, I have read plenty of GN with stuff like this and we the readers should just fill that hole ourselves, so I am very happy that we got that backstory.

I was surprised to find out that this was the first book in the series! Generally comics and GNs have numbering if it is part of a series so I thought this would be a complete story, but in fact it ends with Barb heading to Witch’s Head with a ragtag team! I was a bit disappointed by that, but I am also happy that there is going to be more. I want to see Barb kick some more asses. XD

The art in this book was so fun and playful and fitted so well with the the story. Love love love it!

All in all, if you are in a book filled with monsters, quests, evil guys doing evil things, and a kick-ass little girl… be sure to check out Barb the Last Berzerker!

Star rating, 4.5 stars

Barb the last Berzerker, Fantasy, Children's Book, Berzerkers, Graphic Novel, Monsters, Goblins, Fantasy, Girl, Sword, Dan Abdo, Jason PattersonShe-Ra and the Princesses of Power meets Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man in this sidesplitting graphic novel about a young Berzerker who has to rescue her fellow warriors from the evil villain Witch Head before he destroys the world!
Barb is a Berzerker, one of a group of warriors sworn to protect the land of Bailiwick from the scourge of monsters that plagues it. But the fearsome crew seem to have met their match in the nefarious Witch Head. Using power from his magical sword, he tricked the Zerks and took them captive. Only Barb was able to escape—and she took Witch Head’s Shadow Blade with her.
Now it’s up to Barb to free her fellow warriors so they can stop Witch Head from taking over Bailiwick. On the way, she’ll battle vampire goat fiends, snot goblins, and a giant with serious foot odor issues (but don’t mention that to him—he’s very sensitive about it). Luckily, she’s got her best friend, Porkchop the yeti, to help her.
But the power of the Shadow Blade has a mind of its own, and the deeper Barb gets into her quest, the harder it is to keep the blade’s awesome power under control.
