I swat away my make-up artist, Elsie, and she giggles. She’s one of the best makeup artists I’ve worked with, and definitely one of the best within ITV’s budget, which is why I’ve kept a tight hold on her for so long despite her biggest flaw. She is a major flapper. Which is irritating at the best of times, beyond irritating when you’re preparing to go on live TV, and totally bloody intolerable at five-thirty in the morning.
