Review for The Hair Book
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I just couldn’t resist this book, I haven’t seen many hair books and this one looked colourful and fun.
In this book we discover all sorts of hair. From beards to party hair (though I would have expected a bit more party) to kippah hair and afro hair. It was so much fun to see all those hair styles and can you imagine, there is even more than what is in this book, so I hope that they make a second book with more hairs. I love the positive message at the end, definitely one some people need to hear (given how often I see newspaper or tweets about people who cannot have their natural hair at work or school).
I liked the art style, very abstract but still very recognisable. I love the colours the illustrator uses, it just pops~
Sadly, I am rating this was a tad lower because the formatting wasn’t good. I get that this is an e-arc, but it could have been so much better. Now we sometimes get two words about different hair then suddenly we get two characters with the hair mentioned. Then the next we get a new word and then the next page is that hair, there were also a situation when we would get a word then an illustration then another illustration and then a word. It just was so confusing and I found myself scrolling back and forth not making the experience better.
Despite the formatting I would recommend this book, I am sure that once released it will have good formatting. This is one book that I am kids will love.
