Spell the Month in Books March 2022

Hey all~

Nichijou, Calendar

A Spring welcome to a new Spell the Month in Books! Welcome to March’s books~

This month I actually was able to make a TBR/want to read Spell the Month in Books again! YAS! The advantage of a month with less words. The next coming months, until August, I may just be able to do this~ dances This time I split my Spell the Month up in books on Netgalley and books I have from the library/my own. I don’t have a picture, because well, NG books are digital. XD

Also, for the A, as I just didn’t have any A books, I went the author name as I did have a few of those!

How it often goes: First up I will show you guys a picture of my stack and after that I will show the book covers + blurb (for the Dutch-Dutch books I translated the blurb for you , for the English>Dutch translated books or English books I picked the original blurb).

The original creator of this tag is Reviews From The Stacks!

The Familiar Dark by Amy Engel , Thriller, Murder, Snow, Road, Suspense, Adult, MomSometimes the answers are worse than the questions. Sometimes it’s better not to know.

Set in the poorest part of the Missouri Ozarks, in a small town with big secrets, The Familiar Dark opens with a murder. Eve Taggert, desperate with grief over losing her daughter, takes it upon herself to find out the truth about what happened. Eve is no stranger to the dark side of life, having been raised by a hard-edged mother whose lessons Eve tried not to pass on to her own daughter. But Eve may need her mother’s cruel brand of strength if she’s going to face the reality about her daughter’s death and about her own true nature. Her quest for justice takes her from the seedy underbelly of town to the quiet woods and, most frighteningly, back to her mother’s trailer for a final lesson.

The Familiar Dark is a story about the bonds of family—women doing the best they can for their daughters in dire circumstances—as well as a story about how even the darkest and most terrifying of places can provide the comfort of home.

Cat's Cradle: The Golden Twine by Jo Rioux, Octarine, Graphic Novel, Children's Book, Family, Secrets, MonstersJo Rioux (illustrator of M. T. Anderson’s highly acclaimed The Daughters of Ys) makes her debut as a writer-illustrator in this fanatsy-adventure graphic novel trilogy!

Suri loves monsters—studying their lore, telling stories about them (for a fee), and—she hopes—one day taming them. Unfortunately, no one takes an orphan street-urchin who travels with a merchant camp very seriously. But Suri’s self-confidence, cleverness, and ambition serve her well when a mysterious new wagon joins her camp—holding something very big, very loud, and very monstrous.

And that’s before Suri runs afoul of a treacherous family with its own beastly secret—and a prince hunting the greatest monster of all.
