Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag 2022 Edition
Hi all!!!
Welcome all to a new Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag! IT is here! It is time!
Haha, though I have to be honest and I was considering (given many reasons) to just not do it this time. I am just so tired all the time and my blog is taking a lot of my time. But when I started to answer one question, just for fun, I just couldn’t stop but check all the other questions as well… and then suddenly it was filled. XD I hope you all enjoy my answers and hope it brings some inspiration for books!
I am not too sure who the original creator is of this tag, so shoot me a comment if you know/want me to add that. I found this one on Dream Come Review, be sure to check out her answers.

Phew, this is a hard one, just like each year. But I will pick the newest book and first in series: Dread Wood! This was an amazing book filled with spiders, scary things, friendship, and wonderful characters who each get their story. There is also creepy nursery songs and more. Definitely recommended!2.) What is the best sequel you have read so far in 2021?
OMG, this one. Definitely this one! I also have some others, but this one wins! It was a really wonderful and powerful book and that ending just made me cry so much.
3.) What is a new release that you haven’t read yet but want to?
This book! Amazon DOES have it in stock (unlike last year’s answer to this question), but sadly it is just a bit above my amount to pay for a book (26+ euros). So I am hoping and praying that it goes under the 20 at least so I can get it.
4. What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
I got a few books I am looking forward to, though most are for the upcoming 2 months. I generally look per month if there are books that I would love to read. There are a few exceptions of course, like when I see something on Twitter that I just desperately need. Haha.
5. What was your biggest disappointing book so far?
Just like last year, I am quite good at DNF-ing books. If a book is really disappointing I will just drop it and continue with something else that is better. I checked my DNF shelves to see if maybe I put a book on there, that sometimes happens when I am far enough in the book, but apparently this year nothing made that cut. Haha. So I cannot answer this one.
6. What was your biggest surprising book so far?
This one, I mean, I knew I would like it because I am a fan of this person’s art, but I hadn’t expected to so fall in love with the book. It was an absolutely stunning and gorgeous book and I just loved each bit of it.
7. Who is your favorite new author (debut or new to you)?
Just like last year I discovered a few new authors, for this year’s Mid-Year I will go for Chuck Wendig (whose book was weird and strange but also mesmerising) and Simon James Green (who writes hilarious LGBT books that make me happy).
8. Who is your new fictional crush?
Nope, not this year. Sadly.
9. Who is your newest favorite character?
Well, I recently met a girl named Cees. From a Dutch book named: Dit gebeurde allemaal echt. This girl just wants to READ but there is all sorts of noise. She is a really fun MC and I knew all about the feelings she had.
10. What books made you cry?
I got plenty of them, just like last year. Though unlike last year it isn’t due to Corona, as there haven’t been any measures or lockdowns in months now (but I am still taking all the safety precautions because corona hasn’t left the building). But this year just isn’t going well. In December my grandfather died and in the same week my old hammie Aagje died. Then a few months after my other hamster died suddenly, Yuki. And then in May my grandma died. Those who read my blog know how my parents handled things and know that also caused some tears and unhappiness. I am still trying to find some more happiness. Hoping that no one dies this year. Please, just no.
11. What is one book that made you happy?
Definitely this book. It just made me laugh so much, the dogs are just adorable and a tad silly. I just love how we got to meet all these doggies. I still very much want a dog myself (but anxiety about truly getting one is getting in the way) and this book definitely helped giving me a bit of a confidence boost. Hope that makes sense. XD
12. What is the most beautiful book you have bought or received so far this year?
This one! The covers are absolutely stunning, book 3 is my favourite, and the story is just the sweetest and fun (with plenty of sexy times). It is about two guys who met 10 years ago, fell in love, but haven’t confessed. Now they meet again and it is time for confessions + more! I am so happy I came across this series this year and so happy I could read it.
13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
OMG, I got quite a few books that I would love to read. Yes, I say love to read. I don’t know need feels a bit like a must, and I don’t like that. But I got plenty of books that I would love to read including many that Amazon just doesn’t have in stock or at ridiculous prices. *sighs*
