Review for Marlon and the Scary Something

Review for Marlon and the Scary Something

Marlon and the Scary Something (Marlon's Marvelous Adventures, #2) by Dan Bailes, Melissa Gardner, Cute, Fun, Cats, Mystery, Birds, FamilyI received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

So I was very excited when the author let me know that his newest Marlon adventures was out, and did I want to read/review it? Yes, hello, I would love to! I was curious to see what the scary something would be and what adventures Marlon would have this time round.

And Marlon meets something scary! I was delighted that it happened so early on in the book! On page 17. I really couldn’t have waited much longer, haha. Sorry, so impatient, I just need to know about the scary something! I won’t tell you what it is, you will have to read the book, but I did love that that was the scary something! I can imagine that for a cat that is something very scary. I wanted to give Marlon such a big hug as he got stuck in his fear and I just wanted to show him things were fine! The scary thing wasn’t that scary! I am glad that Marlon has friends and a mother who could help him out (or at least give him advice), plus that he himself tried to figure things out! I was definitely rooting for Marlon.

I loved that we got the POV in a few chapters by the scary something and the author sure did get the POV right, haha. I don’t have such a pet myself, but my sister in law does and BOY if that one could talk it would go like that. XD

It was great to see the songs that Marlon (and the scary something) sang throughout the day!

Just like last time the stories about Marlon are told by a mom and her two kids. Just like last time I did like that the story was told through the mom and liked the comments/reactions by the kids, but it also was a tad distracting. A bit less than the previous time, probably because now I knew it was coming.

I did notice one thing, Albert was having a dream (a very cute dream). Before we get to the dream it is mentioned it is hockey, but the dream and the sentence afterwards are clearly about soccer.

The art was just so adorable! I was going AWW and SQUEE the whole time.

The Q&A + about the illustrations at the end was a nice extra!

All in all, this was just so much fun! About a cute cat, a scary something, and facing your fears!

Star rating, 4 stars
