Review for Beekeepers and What They Do

Beekeepers and what they do by Liesbet Slegers, Non-Fiction, Children's Book, Bees, FunI received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I just love these books by Liesbet Slegers, because of how fun they are written and I am also totally smitten by her fun illustrations. So I had to request this one when I spotted it on Netgalley. Bees? A new Liesbet Slegers book? Yes please!

In this book we don’t just find out about the beekeeper, oh no, we also find out about the bees she cares for. From what they do and how important they are to how their hives work and more. I really liked how it switched between teaching us about bees to teaching us what a beekeeper does. How she helps the hive and what tools she needs. And that even if bees are kind, if you get close to them they may sting so that is why you have to wear that suit (btw, I didn’t know that the suit was white because bees are attracted to colour, I just thought white was the easiest colour of fabric to get). It was all very interesting to read and I learned quite a few new things about beekeeping. It always sounded like a fun profession, but now even more. Though I think I will stay away, bees are cute. From a distance. XD Plus, if I do get stung I get very big bumps. But I would definitely like to try my hand on making wax or getting the honey into jars and cleaning up the frames. That sounds pretty safe.

And of course the illustrations by Liesbet Slegers were tons of fun again! I love her style.

All in all, I would highly recommend this book to all. It is fun, I learned some new things, and it was cute.
