Spell the Month in Books September 2022
Hi hi all!

It is September and that means I am welcoming you to a new Spell the Month in Books!! Welcome!
Gosh, this one was HARD! Well, OK, I found S E P T M B quite soon because they are books I need to review. However finding two other Es and one R? It took me a while to find those, and in the end I just went with author name because I wasn’t in the mood to search any further. And I did want to use books I still want to read. Make more E books, please!
First up I will show you guys a picture of my stack and after that I will show the book covers + blurb (for the Dutch-Dutch books I translated the blurb for you , for the English>Dutch translated books or English books I picked the original blurb).
The original creator of this tag is Reviews From The Stacks!
A school that encourages students to sleep in, misbehave, solve problems by erasing them off the board, and wreak havoc wherever they go… sounds perfect, right? For most people in Monster Land, yes! But all Flop wants to do is learn. Much to his parents’ great disappointment, he insists on getting to school on time, on reading books, keeping a clean room and playing with his telescope and chemistry set. As shown in a series of short stories, it’s tough being a smart nerd in a place full of dummies who love to destroy things for the fun of it!
Somewhere on the Eastern Front in 1917, between Poland and Russia. Behind the gates of the Nurk Orphanage, there is a scene of utter devastation: the building lies in ruins, and decomposing bodies are scattered around the place. Only three children have survived, by taking the most extreme measures… But one of the orphans can no longer bear this harsh way of living. Luckily, he discovers new friends—the only ones?—in the beautiful Victorian dolls lining the shelves, with empty eyes… *

Tessa and the TSLR Detective Agency are back on the case for a sleuthy summer adventure…
The basketball team’s State Championship trophy is missing!
Teen super sleuth Tessa Wright and her TSLR Detective Agency are determined to bring the trophy home before eighth grade starts in the fall. At first glance, it should be easy, especially with the crime caught on video. But you could have knocked them over with a feather when the perpetrator is disguised as Greeneville Heights’ own Falcon mascot!
It’s not like Tessa’s detective dad and the trusted Greeneville police force can swoop in to help. They’re too swamped with a relentless string of downtown break-ins, crippling local businesses.
The Falcon isn’t the only mystery circling Tessa’s head. It’s boys—specifically adorable emerald-eyed Mason Greene. Hanging out during summer vacation is a blast, but is it just as friends? Tessa is resolved to find out in the most sleuthy way possible: by putting Mason under her magnifying glass!
When she’s not training for the upcoming cross-country season, Tessa and her spunky new kitten cool off poolside. With so many suspects hovering, the case heats up. Instead of winging it, Tessa calls on her friends to investigate what connects them all. As the summer flies by and their carefree days are numbered, they must bring the trophy back to its rightful place in the case.
Jack and Sally are “truly meant to be” … or are they?
Sally Skellington is the official, newly-minted Pumpkin Queen after a whirlwind courtship with her true love, Jack, who Sally adores with every inch of her fabric seams — if only she could say the same for her new role as Queen of Halloween Town. Cast into the spotlight and tasked with all sorts of queenly duties, Sally can’t help but wonder if all she’s done is trade her captivity under Dr. FInkelstein for a different — albeit gilded — cage. But when Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient realm called Dream Town in the forest Hinterlands, she’ll unknowingly set into motion a chain of sinister events that put her future as Pumpkin Queen, and the future of Halloween Town itself, into jeopardy. Can Sally discover what it means to be true to herself and save the town she’s learned to call home, or will her future turn into her worst… well, nightmare
Al, Siera, and Hector have nothing in common until they all suddenly come into possession of strange, antique masks. Masks that confer powers beyond imagination. But how do you handle such a gift when you’re only fifteen years old? And why were they chosen? Time is running out to find the answers: a powerful mask has fallen into the wrong hands, and something must be done before it’s too late…
The year is 1938. Yaël and her sister Émilie are two ordinary children growing up in a village in the south of France. But even if they don’t understand everything they see, they are starting to catch glimpses of the secrets that adults struggle to keep. Who is hiding behind the curtain in the guest room? Why does their maternal grandfather call their father a “goy”? What does it mean to be Jewish? As Yaël grows up, she is caught up in the harsh realities of the war and the antisemitic laws of Vichy France. Her path to understanding her identity will be a painful one.
A child’s plans are ruined when her parents have the gall to stop to talk to the neighbors in My Parents Won’t Stop Talking!, a laugh-out-loud picture book about patience by Emma Hunsinger and Tillie Walden.
It’s time to go to the park, and Molly can’t wait! It’s going to be awesome and amazing and—
OH NO!
The neighbors have spotted her moms, and now they’re talking. A lot. And everything they say is boring. Minutes feel like hours, hours feel like days, and days feel like eons . . .
Will her parents ever stop talking?!
This is a clever, irreverent take on a universal childhood dilemma, written and illustrated by two stars in the comics world.
