Review for Bumble and Snug and the Angry Pirates

Bumble and Snug and the Angry Pirates (Bumble and Snug #1) by Mark Bradley, Humour, Friendship, Children's Books, Graphic Novel, PiratesMeet Bumble and Snug! Two very different characters but bestest of friends! This time pirates! Picnics! Adventure! Treasure!

Beginning of October I visited Library #1 and was pleasantly surprised to find this book there! I have seen it promoted on Twitter a few times + also on other places and was hoping to read it one day. So yay for my library adding more English books! And not just the popular hot ones.

Meet Bumble and Snug, two best friends who couldn’t have been more different. Bumble is quite friendly and sweet but tends to go overboard and gets distracted quite often. Snug is more the stable one who has a clear head on his shoulders. He thinks about what could be done. I have to say that at points I just wasn’t a fan of Bumble. There were moments that she just annoyed the heck out of me. She made some dumb mistakes. Thankfully, she does know she screwed up and always tries to make it up to her friend(s). That I did like and that is why I started liking her more as the story went on.

The adventure in this book was oodles of fun! We see our duo go on a picnic but that ends up stranded on a beach and then some pirates also appear! Yep, there is just not any moment to breathe, you are pulled in this fast-paced and delightfully chaotic adventure. I had so much fun reading it.

I loved seeing the various characters and all their shapes and colours, there isn’t one the looking the same as the other. I loved their obsession with hats. I loved the abilities they had. Like how Bumble can expand her body or make it super tiny.

I cannot wait to explore this world some more, because given the map there is still plenty to see. Including unicorns! Sign me up!

The art was also tons of fun. Very colourful and funny.

All in all, I do hope that the library will be adding the next book in the series. Though given the library it will either never happen or happen in a few years. Still crossing my fingers and hoping. I would recommend this hilarious graphic novel to all! This will be sure to bring a smile to your face and who can resist some good adventures!
