Review for Krampus Baby
An adorable read with flaps to open, follow Krampus on a fun day in the snow!
I had the pleasure of reading this one in December, just 10 days before Christmas. Just like Santa Claus, Krampus belongs in this time. And he just looked adorable. I hope to be able to add all the other books in this fun series to my collection!
In this superduper adorable book we follow Krampus Baby on his way through the alps as winter is setting in. We see him walk through snow and jingle all the way (thanks, now I got a song in my head), we see him visit mystical/magical friends who are also having a great time, we see him have some naughty fun by visiting kids and hiding in a basket. And there is so much more and it just made me smile so much. The Krampus is adorable and I loved seeing the little town + several beings also living there! The flaps are just so much fun, it is a great surprise and I am also glad that not every of the flaps holds Krampus hiding under it. That is fab. It keeps the surprise! And the ending? I really enjoyed that one as it was just so cute and heartwarming.
I loved how sturdy the flaps are. I have read quite a few books with flaps but often they are quite flimsy. With kids you need strong flaps. I have seen what happened to many books with flaps in the library. Either they don’t have them or they are half ripped. But this one is sturdy. At first a bit too sturdy, haha, well at first. After that it opens up pretty easily and I think it will last for a while.
The art by Zoe Persico? I LOVE IT. It is cute, fun, adorable, sweet, and I could go on. I really love her style and need more of it!
All in all? Be sure to check out this book, because I would highly recommend it. Fun, original, sweet, and it gave me all the wintery vibes.
