A big big thank you to my sweet hubby for gifting me this one as a birthday present! I didn’t know this book existed and I am a big SB fan! So I was absolutely squealing in delight when I unwrapped the present and saw this book! Eep!
This book is a a FEAST for us Scooby Doo fans! It lists villains (and fun details) from the classic series. From the OG (Scooby, Doo Where Are You!) to The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. Yes, all the villains. From the real crooks to magical villains and aliens. Because of course, not all monsters in Scooby Doo are fake! Yep. There are a few series with some real stuff happening! And I had a lot of fun reading all about the villains, absolutely delighted that I remember so many of them still, and that all of my favourites are there! I also loved that, for the ones that are crooks, we also get to read who was in the disguise and why! Plus, we get some quotes if they have that, and also who said the very first Meddling Kids sentence!
Next to villains (btw done per what kind of villain they are which I loved) we also get some deets on the gang along with a family tree for Scooby and also some other fun scenes, like food from the show. I really liked those little extras. Made the book a bit more varied. While I don’t mind reading just about monsters/villains, I think I would have gotten a bit bored if it was just that.
I think what I would have liked to see… is what episodes these villains were found on and which series. Some I recognised, some are easy (I mean the Thirteen ghosts and all that), but some were just harder to remember specifically. Like, this villain was found in insert series insert episode, that way people can have a fun rewatch (or remember things more clearly)!
And hilariously, all the monsters I remembered the less, some even I didn’t remember… are from the series with Scrappy. I HATE Scrappy. Like for real, he needs to just disappear. Apparently my mind just blocked most of the episodes, and thus also the villains. XD
I loved how close the art was to the originals and how much Scooby vibes it gave of. That isn’t always easy, so kudos to the illustrator!
All in all, THANK you again to my hubby and I would highly recommend this book to all Scooby fans!
