Review for Zombie 100 – Bucket List of the Dead, Vol.7

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead #7, Haro Aso, Koutarou Takata, Zombies, Hotel, AI, Weird, Absurd, Horror, MangaZombies, hilarious situations, a hotel filled with AI robots, and something more!

In this book our crew is on the way through Japan. Their bucketlist is getting emptier but they have some fun things still there and I know that they are adding new ones when they think about one. Things are going pretty smooth… until the camper is out of gas (how the fuck did they not notice that?) and from that point the absurdity of it all just rises to a peak level, and not all of the things I was a fan of.

I did like seeing the characters have a fun time discovering. I loved seeing Akira and Shizuka getting some moments (and I am definitely hoping for many more). I loved that the hotel was AI-run, I am not a fan of AI that much, but as a robot thing? It is kind of cool. Though I have read enough books about AI going rogue, so I was preparing myself just in case that would happen. I loved that we saw our crew relax FINALLY. Take a bath. Dress up nicely. Stuff their faces in with yummy food. Jump on the beds and just lie on them enjoying the feeling of it. Just a bit of a moment between all the death and craziness of the world. However, I knew that something was up, so I was just waiting for that to happen. Come on, it was just all way too sus. I don’t see it as a spoiler. But I loved seeing our crew just have fun. Go wild. Put their barriers down.

And then things go south…. and whatever is going on in the hotel? Well.. I could kind of understand why at points, but I also wasn’t a fan. I know that the story is weird/absurd at times, but this just didn’t click for me. I don’t want to give away too much, so there we are. I did have a laugh at the drones and the zombies. Now, where can we get that many drones? XD

But while I love the absurdity of it all… I wasn’t such a fan of them going to run 200+ km. Without any training. Without much food. Without any support or houses to take shelter in. I would have rather seen them hike to a nearby city, get some gas and run back. Then again, given some stuff happening later on that may have formed a problem, but I am still wondering now if they will get their camper back or not? I mean, I would love it because it just made everything so much more fun than endless walking that is often happening in books.

I had fun reading the volume though, even if it got a bit weird and more absurd than it was already, love the hotel, love the secret plans, ZOMBIE BEAR, love seeing Shizuka and Akira, and there was plenty of action! I need to get the other volumes that are out, SOON.
