The In or Out Book Tag

The In or Out Book Tag

Hello everyone!!!

Guruguru, GIF, Red-hair, staff, book

A happy welcome to a shiny new Book Tag! It was time to pick one from my list of tags still to do and I decided to go for the very fun IN or OUT Book Tag!

Which I found over at Chonky Books (here is the post). They have no clue on the original creator, so I can also not list that one. If anyone knows, let me know I would love to give credit to them.

📚🌟💕🥳😍📚📚🌟💕🥳😍📚📚🌟💕🥳😍📚📚🌟💕🥳😍📚
1. Reading the Last Page First

Depends on the book. Haha. I have had some books I just wasn’t sure of if I wanted to continue or not and decided to check out the last page. Or if I hated the character and just had to know if they would be gone by the end.

2. Enemies to Lovers

IN! I just love seeing two people who thought they hated each other fall in love and find out that the other party is actually very sweet/kind.

3. Dream Sequences

Mmm, OUT. I have haven’t seen a book with good ones.

4. Love Triangles

OUT OUT OUT OUT *yeets* This girl is NOT into them. It may work if x falls in love with y and z in the same moment, but often it is an established couple and suddenly there is the childhood friend/a rival/someone random just trying to worm their way into it.

5. Cracked Spines

OUT. Though I will say that you often just cannot stop it. Some books are just so tight or so easily breakable. But I do my best to keep them nice and good.

6. Back To My Small Town

IN!! YES. You can wake this girl up for small town settings~ I just love reading about small towns. There are so many wonderful books about them and I adore them. A lot of authors really can write it so well that you can imagine yourself walking through this small town. Seeing the sights. Say hi to little local stores. And more!

7. Monsters Are Regular People

I am still not sure what is meant with that one. You mean bad guys are people? Or you mean a scary monster, like vampires or otherwise, is a regular person? Confusing!

8. No Paragraph Breaks

OUT! I have had books with no paragraph breaks and LORD it got so boring. Just an endless field of words and texts without any pauze. NO thank you, give me some breaks!

9. Multi-Generational Sagas

OUT. Not really into that.

10. Re-reading

IN! It doesn’t happen often, generally it happens with GN/Comics or Manga. I do love revisiting favourite stories of mine. But it can take a few years because my mind is very good with remembering details.

11. Artificial Intelligence

OHHHH! IN! Well, OK, if it is AI as in a machine/computer system in a sci-fi novel. If it AI like ChatGPT or other shit, than no. But I do love an AI in sci-fi, especially when they think for themselves and things go very dark~

12. Drop Caps

Drop caps?????? I had to look this up, but apparently it is that a letter is bigger/is decorated? Then I am very much IN! Especially when they are decorated, I just love that!

13. Happy Endings

IN! IN! IN! Bring me all the happy endings~ Especially when I am invested in the characters/the couple/the story.

14. Plot Points That Only Converge At The End

IN, but…. as long as it is done well. Sometimes everything comes together at the end and it is just one big clusterfuck of confusion and rushed feelings. If an author manages to keep me hooked and throw me new plot points at random parts and then ties them all up, or as I call it the puzzle completes, then it is perfection!

15. Detailed Magic Systems

IN. But not too much. I have read some super detailed magic systems and at times I just had to re-read or scroll back when it came back later. So if it is done well, then yes! I do love seeing what people make/create. I also love it when they take a magic system already existing (from like a classic) and just make it their own.

16. Classic Fantasy Races

IN? I don’t really read classics, and fantasy rarely, so I am not sure, but looking it up I guess I am in.

17. Unreliable Narrators

INOUT? It really depends. Sometimes it works and just messes up your brain and you will be like WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WHAT? But other times it just annoys me.

18. Evil Protagonists

MMm, this one is an IN/OUT. If well-written then it is a big YES. But I have also read way too many books that I either struggled through or DNF because the evil character was just too much for me.

19. The Chosen One

OUT! Sorry, have read way too many of those over the years.

20. When The Protagonist Dies

IN. Oh man, that is so rare and I love it when it happens. Wait, this sounds wrong, but I hope you all know what I mean. But I love it when it is not a side character but rather the character you expect to survive. Protagonists often have such immunity to things and I have to say it gets boring.

21. Really Long Chapters

OUT. So much OUT. I don’t mind longer chapters, but I have seen chapters around 40+ pages and Boo, that is just way too much. I would be so bored out of my mind. Plus, while I do not mind randomly closing my book, I sometimes prefer ending on a chapter, so shorter is better.

22. French Flaps

IN! I do like those~

23. Deckled Edges

OUT. Don’t like those at all. It looks ugly and it feels weird when reading the book. I don’t see the use of these and I am glad that less and less books have them.

24. Signed Copies By The Author

IN! Just a shame I barely got any because I cannot find them.

25. Dog-Earing Pages

OUT! Eww, no. Just use a bookmark!

26. Chapter Titles Instead Of Numbers

IN! I love it when someone has a creative title for each chapter, or gives us a bit of a hint of what may just happen in this one! GIVE IT!

📚🌟💕🥳😍📚📚🌟💕🥳😍📚📚🌟💕🥳😍📚📚🌟💕🥳😍📚

This was oodles of fun! So happy I found this tag and was able to do it~ I am definitely curious if I still feel the same about these in a few years, so maybe if my blog is still up in 5 years I will do this one again! I won’t tag anyone specific, but if you want to do this one, go for it! I would love it if you could tag me so I can see your answers. WP reader doesn’t always seem to show all the posts from peeps I follow, so yeah. Thank you all for reading and have a great day~
