Bookish This or That Tag
Afternoon all!

A happy welcome to a new Book Tag! Today I am doing Bookish This or That Tag~ So excited~
I found this tag early August on The Artsy Reader and just knew I had to do it when my vacation was over! So here we are! Finally I can do this one~ And this was such a fun tag to do, I just love it when you have to make choices, OK, I didn’t love all of the choices because some are just HOW CAN YOU LET ME CHOOSE BETWEEN THESE TWO ARGHHHH, but most were fun and easy.
I am not sure who the OG creator is of this tag, but let me know and I will add it to this post! Be sure to check out The Artsy Reader’s answers (I really had fun reading them). And let’s get to my answers to these This or Tag questions! Consider yourself tagged, I don’t know who has done this one or not. π
Haha, that is an easy one, Stand Alone. While I do love a good series sometimes it just takes WAY too long for books to come out and by that time I have lost interest or forgotten the series even existed. Like recently I found out that a Dutch YA series had two more books, one published 4 years after that last book I read and then 3 years later apparently another book. Plus, a lot of series don’t have a set number of books, you just will have to wait to see how many there are. So Stand Alones it is. A whole world wrapped in one book. All the characters get what they needed in one book.
2. Magic earned or magic born?
Oh, that is a hard one! I think, given that Disney+ recently FINALLY added Owl House I am more on the side of Magic Earned. We see Luz, a human, want to be a witch and try to make magic her own. I just love seeing her work hard to get magic and get good with it. I do love Magic Born as well, but for now it is Magic Earned, because it is such a treat to root for Luz.
3. Enemies to lovers or friends to lovers?
Friends to lovers! I just love seeing two people go from friends to more. Finding out that they want more. I especially love it when one of the two has been pining for their friend forever and just not daring to say anything as they are worried it may ruin the friendship. Ah! Swoon!
4. Hilarious banter or emotional ruin?
Sorry, but I definitely need both! I love a book with hilarious banter, make me laugh any day, but I also love crying for characters, I love being emotional ruined. Bring it. And if a book has both? Come bring me! Like when something dramatic happens and everything seems lost? But then there is a bit of light and suddenly there is laughter to make things better? YES!
5. Love triangle or insta love?
NO. Neither. But I guess if I have to pick from two evils… I will have Insta Love. I can handle that. I don’t mind that as much. And sometimes, if written well, it is adorable and cute.
6. Keyboard smash names or all names start with the same letter?
*throws a table at Keyboard Smash Names* So give me the same letter. It will make me giggle more than once, maybe not always appropriate if the subject is darker, but at least I know how to pronounce/say the names. And not have to constantly be distracted because someone is called FIAJEIRJRJ and my mind trying to figure out how in the heavens I pronounce it. π€£
7. Mean parents or dead parents
Mean parents are just mean. So I will take dead parents. As The Artsy Reader said and I agree, at least they have nice memories of their time together and that is so much better than having all the pain and the hurt that mean parents bring. Mean parents can just F off.
8. Supermodel looks or constantly says how βplainβ they are?
Well, for me it definitely depends on how the Supermodel looks are handled. Is that character vain/shallow or is everyone constantly mentioning it? Pass. But if it is just mentioned that she looks good then sure. I don’t mind a character looking their best. As long as there are, like Artsy Reader says also other heights/sizes/etc. Not that everyone is supermodel looking but hello, that is just not real. I am definitely not one for the last option. That just gets so annoying and boring and I just want to yeet the book.
9. Face on cover vs. typography on cover?
Really depends on the face for me. Sometimes it works so well, especially if something special is done with the face, like for instance She is a Haunting which features extra details to the face to make it more fit the book! But sometimes it is just a face, just a photograph. Nothing special. Then I think I would rather go for Typography. I have seen some utterly gorgeous typography books. Haha, I am not making it easy am I?
10. Villain turning a little good or hero turning a little bad?
Can I go for both? I just LOVE a good villain redemption arc (well, unless it is a bully redemption arc because the way those are handled the past years is just horrible in my eyes as a person who was terribly bullied). I love seeing a villain go a bit more soft and sweet. Find that not everything needs to be dark. But I also don’t mind a hero turning a little bad. I am a bit done with heroes always being good and true and brave and blablabla. Just give me one that has some bad traits. Nothing big like destroying the planet. But like a little light pyromaniac traits? Or maybe pulling pranks on people in an awesome way? Sign me up.
11. Best friend dies or love interest dies?
OH NO. How can you let me pick between that? I don’t want either. But I have to pick? ARGH. Sorry to the best friend. Bye. I don’t know how to explain why, I just had to choose one.
12. Awesome writing with a dull plot or amazing plot with murderously bad writing?
Phew, another one that makes my brain go WHUT? But I will go with Awesome writing and dull plot, at least the awesome writing will keep me up while the plot may be dull. I have read some books with amazing plot and bad writing and I just DNF the heck out of those.
13. Cliffhanger ending or heartbreaking ending?
I think heartbreaking ending for me. While I do love a HEA a lot, if I have to choose between an annoying cliffhanger, especially one from a standalone or a series that takes forever, or heartbreak which makes me sad but I can get over that, cliffhangers just stick with me for a while longer and make me way more frustrated.
14. Breaking the spine or dog-earing the pages?
Well, I guess breaking the spine then. Since that, despite how good you handle the book, can happen anytime and dog-earing is really done on purpose. You don’t accidentally or by reading the book dog-ear a page. And otherwise I want to see a TikTok or video to see how the heck you do that.
15. βBad boyβ trope or βperfect golden boyβ trope as the love interest?
Why are all these questions so hard, haha. I think I will go for Bad Boy. While I do love a Golden Boy it sometimes just gets a bit boring, whereas with a Bad Boy you know you are in for some excitement. Haha, sorry Golden Boy. You are the best choice, but give me some danger and bad-boy things!

I love a good this or that tag! π I love that you were just like NO with Love triangle or insta love. I’m not a fan of either, although I probably hate insta love more than love triangle.
Same! π And haha, glad I am not alone, I love that you like love triangles more. Guess you had more luck with those than I did. π
