I received this book from the publisher/Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I just love books about volcanoes so when I spotted this adorable and fun looking book up on Netgalley I knew I had to click that Read Now button that was tempting me so!

In this one we get to meet a volcano who had been sleeping for ages… but is now slowly waking up! Things are rumbling. Things are heating up! And then BOOOM!! Throughout seeing the volcano wake up we get all sorts of fun information by a bird, at first just in his normal feathery outfit but eventually donning the appropriate costumes to deal with a soon to burst out volcano! He will tells us all about what is happening during what time, for instance when the volcano erupts he tells us what kind of things come out of the volcano and what happens when it is super strong (change the weather). It was really fun, though at times just a bit jarring because we went from a cute volcano waking up to an enthusiastic bird. I am not sure what else could have been done to have told us how a volcano works, after all the volcano is mostly sleeping or waking up and you cannot expect him to talk to us then, haha. I really loved seeing the whole cycle of a volcano including a very sweet and happy ending.

The last few pages are extra information on volcanoes, from how they look to common types, and more. I really enjoyed that that was added to the book.

The illustrations were one of my favourite parts of the book. They were so fun and the volcano was quite cute. The art really made me smile.

All in all, a fun way to show kids how volcanoes work! I would recommend it.
