Review for Sweat and Soap / Ase to Sekken, Vol.8

Sweat and Soap, Vol. 8 Kintetsu Yamada, Man and woman holding hands while in swimwear, manga, romance, cute, adult, matureA new volume with summer times, an anniversary, a work-related party, and much more! So sweet!

I am really so excited that I got the boxset in June and am able to finish this series! I will definitely miss it though, but I also cannot stop reading, haha.

The anniversary and the dinner date was so adorable! I did think it was a bit weird that Kotaro put that present in such a place. I mean I would have hidden it just a bit better. These days I got more spots but back then we also didn’t have that much space so I had to be a tad more creative, haha. But in the end it was all good and I loved the scenes that happened!

Plus, there is a big work-related event and I had fun seeing them be together but also with their friends and co-workers.

And we see them think about the future. From the last chapter with Asako thinking about how it would be to have kids with Kotaro, but also being anxious because would she be ready for that? Kotaro thinking about marriage but also letting it depend on Asako is just sweet. He is taking his time. You can see that he really would like to pop the question but that he notices that Asako isn’t ready yet and then just waits. I also do think that a year is a bit soon, but that is mostly my experience. Plus, they just started living together. I would rather have it happen around 2-3 years together. But again, that is my experience. I would definitely not have been that comfortable had my hubby asked me after just one year or even 2 years.

It was great for Asako to know that while she does sweat a lot at some parts it is OK to be that. Like with the running, everyone is sweating, everyone is working on their own thing, they won’t know or care that you are drenched. Same with the volleyball match. As Ichise said, you are not alone in that, haha, everyone is covered in sand and stickiness.

I still think it is interesting how body types/weight varies per country/per part of the world. I had a time where I was 45-48kilos and let me tell you that wasn’t healthy. I was cold a lot. I was just bones. I even had to visit a dietician and a doctor and had to eat more fatty and sugary stuff to get my weight around 55 kilos as that was still low but much better. But in this one we see Asako being shocked at 48 kilos and then excited when she was just under 46 kilos.

Once again, I so love how these two are growing closer to each other, finding out new things about one another and that they talk. That they have good conversations about all sorts of things. I love how both of them are considerate of the other, like how Kotaro wasn’t sure about letting Asako go alone after the volleyball game. I know it is little things, but it is quite rare at times in manga to find a couple like this.

All in all, another wonderful volume with tons of fun things happening and I just love seeing our couple think about the future.
