Review for The Scariest Story You’ve Ever Heard
A wonderful silly and spooky picture book with a surprising ending!
It was high time for some spooky picture books and I thought why not start with this one! It sounded really fun and creative and I was in!
And it was! 99% of the book is black pages (shiny black pages though) with words in delightful fonts with small illustrations (like eyes peeping out of a blanket or water dripping). It certainly was creative and I really liked the way it was told. As the way the story is told is that if you read this one out loud it would be a feast! You can do all the sound effects. And more!
On to the story! Two boys are in their bed when they hear spoookkky noises around them. Cracking, thumping, crunching, and more! What is going on in that house? In that night? In a stormy night to add, which always add a dash of spookiness to it all! I was curious what was lurking in the dark and if the boys would stay hidden or if they would go out and explore!
And then the ending was unexpected, fun, and made me giggle! I loved that so much and I loved that in that ending we got one big illustration + explanation on the noises! I don’t want to spoil it, so I will keep it at that.
It was definitely not the scariest story I have ever heard, haha, not even for picture book, but it was still a spooky one and I had fun reading it! It made me shiver and smile! I would recommend it!
