Today I flipped through this book (which I will be reading soon) and landed on page 149. Now I am even more excited about reading this! The Happy Birthday Man slithered forward as the front row leaned backward. The creature zeroed in on one section. A black-and-white-striped appendage swung out toward a small, pale boy who sat wide-eyed and rigid with fear. As its many fingers closed around his torso, the boy made barely a peep: however, when the arm lifted him from the bench, he shrieked. The cry rang through the cavernous space. James could feel it in his veins, his nerves. He recoiled as the Happy Birthday Man brought the boy toward one of its tooth openings. James closed his eyes. The screaming halted. The silence that followed made his muscles shrink unto his bones.
