End of The Year Book Tag! 2023 Edition!

Hi!!

Guruguru, GIF, Red-hair, staff, book

A warm welcome to the newest edition of End of the Year Book Tag! It is time for 2023!

The year really flew by! Jeez! This year seemed even faster than last year. Then again it was also crammed to the brim thanks to Coco! My hubby and I got the dog of our dreams, a puppy King Charles Spaniel who we named Coco. There were accidents with peeing, there was trying to get her to sleep, there was teething, there were doctor visits for check-ups, there is the puppy training (she is now in the advanced training and having so much fun) and us trying to train her at home as well, there were lots of hugs and cuddles and kisses, there were yips and yaps. It was a lot, but we are both happy with our little puppy. She is adorable!

It was a good year, also for reading! I have read quite a few wonderful and amazing reads~ My blog is still doing fine (though at times the stats do weird things, haha). I reviewed plenty and wrote many fun posts.

Last year’s releases I hoped to read: Spongebob, Wow in the World, and Fever Knights are all read. Still eyeing The Gathering Dark, but haven’t read/bought it yet. As for Books I want to read before the end of the year: Why Odin Drinks and The Creeper were both not for me, and Mina and the Slayers wasn’t read until Halloween this year. Haha. I just never was in the mood for it until Halloween.

1. Are there any books you started this year you need to finish?

Quoting my answer from last year and that year before that and the year before that: “Nope. I generally finish books quite soon after I started them. Unless I DNF-ed but then I am also not getting back to them. πŸ˜›”

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition to the end of the year?

Once again, just like each year, no. I do have a spooky books TBR in October (see here), and maybe some books in December that are Christmas-related, but other than that I just read whatever is available for me and what I want to read. A real moodreader here after all!

3. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Oh yes! I still got several of those! It is a bit bare these last weeks because not much seems to be releasing that I am interested in + the last months always seem to be a bit less filled with books for some reason. But here are a few books that either just got released or will be released that I am waiting for. As for Jawbreaker, Bookshops & Bonedust, and Oh, It’s You, I have pre-ordered those early October but now that they are out Amazon doesn’t have them and it may take a few months in the worst case, I am hoping that they are still coming in before the end of the year though. I need them!

Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree, Legends & Latte, Orc leaning against a desk holding a book, fantasy, booksWow in the World Wow in Space A Galactic Guide to the Universe and Beyond by Mindy Thomas Guy Raz, Blue cover with two characters on it on comets, space, non-fiction, children's booksKinderen krijgen is optioneel by Marloes De VriesWedding Peach Luxury Edition by Nao YazawaJawbreaker by Christina Wyman, Orange/Yellow cover with a girl wearing braces, graphic novelOh Its You Love Poems by Cats by Francesco Marciuliano, cat wearing a flower crown, poetry, cats, cute, funny

4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Dark Lullaby, Polly Ho-Yen, Pregnant, Family, Dystopia, Feminism, Woman, PregnantThey Come From the Water Wendy Dalrymple, Horror, House, Lake, Death, Sisters, Secrets, Scary, Red, Blue, Purple, FloridaAnger Bang by Avery Flynn, Romance, Palaeontologist, Pink, Dinosaur wearing a dress/tutu with a yellow background and lots of confetti, romance, Tv show, reality show, wedding, humour

One is still from a very old TBR, I will have to look where I put it, maybe on the bye bye stack, but I want to give it one more chance! And the other two are from this year (July and June) that I still want to read badly, so I am hoping that my mood switches to Kindle, haha. For now I haven’t touched my Kindle in a while as my mood is just holding a physical book and not one for staring at a screen. So crossing fingers that I am able to read these.

5. Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your FAVORITE?

Oh, that is easy. I mean I still got 1.5 month left in the year, that means I still can read many books and I am sure that a new favourite may just pop up! Who knows what I encounter! Plus, I got some books still on my TBR which I recently bought and that I am about to read. And, I also still have several books I am waiting for to buy that I am hyped for (Gorgeous Gruesome Faces by Linda Cheng, Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros, Loveboat Forever, Wow in the World: Space by Mindy Thomas + Guy Raz, and several manga as well). So I am pretty dang sure that I will be finding a new fav!

6. Have you already made reading plans for 2022?

As with each year. No. I don’t really do reading plans. I am just planning on reading whatever I want to read whenever I want it. Haha. Just like this year I may just make a shelf specially for my 2024 books because I got a bit tired of comments on my GR goal (which I mainly set so I could check out my 2024 books). Like I said last year, setting a TBR for a week is already quite enough, I cannot imagine setting one for a year or a month. The only times I set one for longer than a week is for my Spooktober (and you can see how that ended with me reading everything I could find and DNF-ing a lot of the books on my TBR) and for my vacation. I guess I do would like to read more on my Kindle, I got some great books on there but just zero motivation to read something without flipping the pages, haha.

This is the end of this year’s End of the Year Book Tag! Boy, this was just so much fun. I really look forward each year to do this one. Here is to a fab 2024, may it be a bit quieter (which shouldn’t be that hard given that Coco is now a bit older and needs less of everything, haha), may there be lots of fun books, lots of fun baking. Wish me luck with the books I want to read + hope with me that Amazon releases those three books I pre-ordered (I NEED THEM). And let me know in the comments what your plans are + what books you want to read/need to read! Thanks for reading!
