The Firsts of 2023
Hey all!
A happy welcome to a new shiny tag! Today I am doing The Firsts of 2023 tag!
I found this tag, well, everywhere, haha. It seemed everyone was doing it. And I finally found a spot to do it! Today~ A bit late, but there is still enough time in this 2023 year, though it is coming to a close faster than I feel should be possible, haha.
This tag was originally made by Tanya from girlxoxo. Her answers are a bit different from the 2023 edition that I found on various sites, so I just added those questions as well.
I actually read 5 books, but thankfully to my notes/reviews I know which book was my first and that is this one! A book full of hijinks, silly things, and action, oh and romance! Featuring my favourite character: Harley!
First Book Reviewed
I actually wouldn’t know, I read 5 books on January 1st, but I don’t always write reviews on the date itself (sometimes it takes me weeks, haha). So I will just pick one of my books from that day. Review here.
This one then, hope this counts, I just wasn’t feeling it anymore after checking 20+ books, haha. But Meg has been posting these comics on other places but this is her very first book which bundles her comics + adds some more!
First Book By A New-To-Me Author
This was actually easy. One of the first books of the year is an author I haven’t read anything else by. Later in the year I also read their book about a raspberry, but I am not sure if I will read more by them. The art is fun, but the stories just don’t work for me.
First Book By an Author I’ve Read Before
That would be the same as the first book I read in 2023. In 2018 I read Franklin Tee’s Bingo Love and I am back for more LGBT romance with Harlequin!
First 5-star Rating
This book! A really fun read that I would highly recommend, hopefully one day it will get translated for the English peeps, but Dutchies be sure to check it out~
First Book That Slayed Me
That would be my second 5+ starred book of the year. The first was also epic, but it was the second 5+ starred book that truly slayed me. Holy, crap that book was just so awesome. It was horrific, scary, terrifying, and all around HOLY WOW.
First Book That I Wish I Could Get Back The Time I Spent Reading It
Haha, this was a tough one. Would I go for one of my DNF books (I generally list them if I read more than 40%) or would I go for a book I rated very low? Decided to go for both, though I only have 3 DNF listed, it seems the rest of my many DNF’s were just that soon dropped. Since the first DNF is more of a warning to all AI art used in the book, and the second one is a book that I half enjoyed. So I will go with my third choice (I know, technically not my first, but hey). That would be Gay Club, and then my first low rating of the year would be… De Dominanten 1 – De hoofdstam. Gay Club I was really excited about since I really enjoyed other works by the author, but LORD the characters were all horrible + I guess it didn’t help that all the politics just weren’t for me. The other book: De Dominanten, had an atrocious character with a whole gang of idiots along with it. It got a 0.5 rating, yes. I am hard. Haha.
And that is it for this tag! This was oodles of fun to do and I hope you all enjoyed my answers! I won’t tag anyone because I don’t know who has done it/who wants to be tagged, but if you do this one let me know! I love seeing what everyone else’s firsts where!
