A delightful field guide on bears! From pooping to food to species! It was oodles of fun!

Oh man, if I could only time travel. I absolutely love bears now, but as a kid? I loved loved loved bears even more. This one would have been perfect for mini-me. OK, I would probably have to help with some translations as my English when I was kid was very basic, but I would have loved it.

In this fantastic book we learn all about bears. About the different species. How they look. The age old question: Do Bears Poop in the Woods?. About what they eat (meat? fruit? veggies? everything?). Where they live from America to Asia. Several special things they can do (knocking out seals for instance), and more. It was just such a feast and I love the writing style. It really felt like a field guide, but not one of those boring ones, but an exciting one that just keeps you entertained and makes the information so much fun. While a lot of the information wasn’t new to me (thanks to mini me), there were some things that were new, like the bear language.

I also loved the tips on finding bears and what to do when walking/hiking if there are bears nearby. All tips that I have no use of, there are no bears in my country, I would have to go to Romania or the Scandinavian countries to see them in the wild. For now I will have to make do with bear books + seeing them at the zoo. One of my zoos has a great initiative and takes in bears that have been badly treated and need a safe space to be happy again.

The illustrations were just so much fun and I love love the style! It is both serious but also funny!

All in all, a beartastic book and I would highly recommend it to all.
