Review for Tenzing Norgay

Tenzing Norgay by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and Bandana TulachanI received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.

The name Tenzig Norgay seemed familiar to me, then again, I read so much so probably I read something about him but didn’t entirely remember what and why. So I was so eager to read this book when I spotted it on Netgalley. Plus, the other reason was that this is a Little People Big Dreams book and I just ADORE that series!

In this book we learn all about Tenzing Norgay, who was apparently a very famous sherpa and even stood on the top of Mount Everest (or Chomolungma for Tibetans) with Edmund Hillary as the first two people! But back to how it all started! We meet Tenzing when he was just a little kid, a kid with BIG dreams. Because he wants to become a sherpa. He wants to help people go up Chomolungma! And we see how hard he works for that dream and how despite everything he never gives up, because yeah, there are some disappointments. That is a kid with BIG dreams right there. I loved seeing him become a sherpa, I loved the photographs (well, illustrated photographs) of his journeys and I just love how it ended with him on top of the mountain. Smiling his trademark (I would call it that) smile. See what happens next for him!

Funnily, on ADE the timeline is broken, but when reading through the Netgalley app, the timeline actually works (and we get some fun extra information). Now I wonder if it always has worked and if I should just use the Netgalley app more, haha.

The art by Bandana Tulachan? I loved them and I think they are my number 1 for the series at this point. The art was so pretty and I loved the art style. So soft, so pretty. I hope that this illustrator makes more art for books, because according to Goodreads this was their first work. Oh, and I love that they are from Nepal, which fits so well, given the book is set in Nepal.

All in all, I learned a lot of new things and I had a lot of fun reading this one! I would highly recommend this one! Another winner for this fantastic children’s series!
