Book Tag: A to Z Survey
Afternoon all!
A very happy and excited welcome to a BIG BIG book tag! Say hello to the A-Z survey!
I was searching around for some new book tags to do on my blog when I came across this one through Google. I don’t know which blog I picked to check out what it was nor do I know the original creator. I did check back just now but no one seems to list it so far. So if you know the creator? Let me know! Back to the tag! In this one I will answer questions from A to Z about books, reading, and more! It was a lot of work, but oh so much fun!
I won’t be tagging anyone specific as it seems this book tag has been around for a while, so if you want to do this, go for it! I would love to be tagged though because I would love to see what your answers would be~
Let’s get started!
I had to do a bit of hunting, haha, apparently Goodreads doesn’t have the functionality (and I cannot use my Read shelf because it is too big), so I had to go to Storygraph. According to that my most read author is CLAMP (205) followed by Thea Stilton (84), and on third place is Annet Schaap (75). Clamp was NOT a surprise to me, while I don’t read them a lot these days, then again they barely have new series, I used to read them A LOT and devoured almost each of their series. The biggest surprise is that I have read so many Thea Stilton’s and Annet Schaap’s books. Haha.
BEST SEQUEL EVER:
Haha, what a prompt. I went through my 5+ starred shelf to see if I had any sequels on there, and the first one I found is The Wizards of Once: Never and Forever. This is book 4 and the last book in the series and BOY it was a freaking ride! So much awesomeness, so many emotions.
CURRENTLY READING:
DRINK OF CHOICE WHILE READING:
Water or tea for me! I got a whole assortment of loose leaves teas in my home (and I should really stop buying them, haha) and I love picking on each day.
E-READER OR PHYSICAL BOOK?
Physical books win for me! I just love the feel of the book, the smell of the book, plus, my eyes don’t tire as much as when they do reading my Kindle. Yes, my Kindle is better than my other e-readers I have had in my life, but it still is a strain on my eyes.
FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY DATED IN HIGH SCHOOL:
Given how I was in high school and how horrible (junior) high school was, I would have not even tried asking anyone out. Especially not after THAT event in brugklas/first year. So while it would be nice to fantasize about the hot or sweet guy I would be dating (as at this point I didn’t know I was bi/didn’t know bi was something) given everything nothing would have happened.
GLAD YOU GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE:
I heard quite a bit about the book, some positive, some negative, and I was just a bit on the fence about this one. But I really loved reading this one. Yes, the MMC is a dick and creepy, but as the story continued I started to really love the writing style, the romance, and all the other bits.
HIDDEN GEM BOOK:
This one! A really pretty manga about a girl who meets a tanuki and adopts him. It was very cute and fun! Which reminds me, I need to read some more of this series, haha, yes another one of my unfinished series! See my review for this manga here.
IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR READING LIFE:
Mm, I guess when I started my blog 10 years ago! Which was a big step and definitely changed the reading game for me! I found book bloggers and authors to follow on Twitter and WordPress Reader, I found a community, I found so many books that probably would have escaped me otherwise. Because thanks to my blog I also started with Twitter. Before I had 0% interest in social media, which always surprised people. Oh, and this is followed by getting my first e-reader 10-ish years ago as that allowed me to have even more ways to read books~
JUST FINISHED:
KINDS OF BOOKS YOU WON’T READ:
Book with certain triggers, books with AI covers or AI art, books with certain tropes (love triangle/instalove for instance).
LONGEST BOOK YOU’VE READ:
I can sadly not enter my Goodreads read shelf so I cannot verify anything, plus, I don’t see any stats about that on Storygraph. So I will go for a long book that stuck with me for life, De ontdekking van de hemel/The Discovery of Heaven by Harry Mullish with 905 pages! I read this one in high school at my own voluntary will and LOVED every page of it.
MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER BECAUSE OF:
It’s been a while since I had a big book hangover. So I will pick a book that caused me all the feels and had me pause at times. It is a recent read and it really hit home as it was about Alzheimer. Now my dad has Alzheimer books just hit different about that subject.
NUMBER OF BOOKCASES YOU OWN:
*counts in her head* Let’s see, one that is split in two (an IVAR), then there is the 2.5 IVARs for my manga (would have been three but my library is in the attic and these bookcases are against the wall where the roof slants), then I got two 5×5 Kallax and on top of one of the Kallax are a couple of smaller Kallax for more books. Not all of them are stuffed with books, I clean regularly, so there is still space!
ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MULTIPLE TIMES:
Sadly, again, I cannot use my reading shelf on Goodreads so I cannot check this one.
PREFERRED PLACE TO READ:
Wherever I can read. See here a list of my favourite places.
QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU/GIVES YOU ALL THE FEELS FROM A BOOK YOU’VE READ:
Since I don’t really keep track of quotes in books + Goodreads doesn’t have all the quotes I love because I got tired of adding them all the time + not all my Weekly Quotes are books I read, so I will just pick a Weekly Quote from a book I DID read that made me laugh.
READING REGRET:
That I didn’t DNF so easily years ago (so much time lost). Or that due to high school I didn’t dare to read anything under my age group. I missed out on so many good books because of this.
SERIES YOU STARTED AND NEED TO FINISH (ALL BOOKS ARE OUT IN SERIES):
Boo, I wouldn’t even know! Probably enough if you count the MANY MANY manga series that I started but never continued because I forgot/I just wanted to preview them/because there are too many.
THREE OF YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE BOOKS:
I picked a newbie, a middlie (we need a word for that, and if it is there let me know), and an oldie!
UNAPOLOGETIC FANGIRL FOR:
I used to be a fangirl for something that cannot be named anymore. Haha. These days in regards to bookish items? Not so much a fangirl. Ask me for other things outside of reading? I got a few things, haha. Anime and Gravity Falls for instance.
VERY EXCITED FOR THIS RELEASE MORE THAN ALL THE OTHERS:
Definitely this one! I so so love Simone St. James’s books and I am HYPED for her newest one! I cannot WAIT to read it. Thankfully, it is coming out early March!
WORST BOOKISH HABIT:
Mm, I don’t think I have one. Though, if I go by what Twitter is spouting I guess my bad habit is that I love my books by keeping them pristine and don’t want them to look like they were driven over by a car.
X MARKS THE SPOT: START AT THE TOP LEFT OF YOUR SHELF AND PICK THE 27TH BOOK:
Haha, I didn’t know I had that many books in one Kallax bit. I was already going to improvise, but then I started counting.. and that was just the front layer. Oh my. So, 27th book from one of my Kallax (the one filled with Children/Graphic Novel/Picture books) is….
YOUR LATEST BOOK PURCHASE:
This one! I saw it EVERYWHERE on the blogoverse and Twitter and I just had to have it! Not a big golf person, but it sounded so fun and romantic and I will just take the golf! Maybe it will actually be fun~
EDIT: Actually I also bought two books yesterday… XOXO by Axie Oh and Lenny Lemon and the Trail of Crumbs. 🙈😳
ZZZ-SNATCHER BOOK (LAST BOOK THAT KEPT YOU UP WAY LATE):
There have been books, but not because the book was so good. Haha. I generally don’t keep on reading if a book is good. There are other reasons that may keep me up at night. Like my hubby snoring too much (some days it is like a whole forest is being chainsawed😆. My body not being happy after a busy day/week. Or my eczema playing up and running havoc when I want to sleep. And then this girl is going to read. Or play games. But mostly read. Until my body finally is like, sure go to sleep. 😆
