Thank you so much for joining me on the blog tour for Earthquake Ethan: Forces of Nature Book Three. Ethan is the finale of the series and while I’ve been assured it stands alone well, if you’ve been reading the series you’ll know that in the first two books (Hurricane Reese and Typhoon Toby), Reese and Toby are putting on a show based on Reese’s grandfather’s music. Ethan drops in on Reese during a particularly difficult time for the songwriter, and Reese pawns him off on his manager Arthur. At first, Arthur wants nothing to do with handsome actor Ethan Bradley because he has…rules. You know? Like “never date the talent?” That soon gets blown out of the water, and Arthur can’t help himself. In this excerpt, he and Ethan have just had a moment, and Arthur is reeling in more ways than one. Audra is Arthur’s assistant and he’s just promoted her to an intern agent position and put her in charge of Ethan’s career resurrection.
“Hey.” Audra approached him. “Everything okay with Ethan?”
Just the name made him grin like a kid with a treat.
“Yeah, yeah. He’s apparently, ah, allergic to wool. Jesse got him a shirt to wear and gave him some Benadryl.”
Audra had an eyebrow raised at him.
“What?”
“Why are you like this?”
“Like what?
“Like…you! You’re all smiley. Why are you smiley?”
He looked around and leaned close to her ear. “You absolutely have to take lead with Ethan. I cannot have any fingers in his dealings.”
“Did you have fingers in his—”
“Audra!”
She snorted and he pulled her away from the others to avoid being overheard.
“I’m sorry, Arthur, but seriously. What is wrong with you?”
“I kissed him,” he whispered. “And I…”
“You kissed that boy and you liked it. Hot damn, boss.”
“Argh, don’t call me boss right now! That’s it. I’m making Patricia your boss. You’re reassigned effective immediately. I can’t be trusted.”
She put her hands on his arms.
“Arthur, take a breather here, man. Look, you can’t help how you feel, right? Did you have consent?”
“Yes, I had consent! God, I’m not a total monster.”
“But you think you’re partially a monster. Look, you had me set up all the paperwork making me his manager. You signed off as my supervisor. If you want me to go through Patricia, I will, but seriously, Arthur, you need to take a breath. You taught me how to do this job and I am determined to do right by him and make you proud. Leave the work stuff to me, and you just…enjoy yourself, all right?”
He had five more arguments on the tip of his tongue but then Ethan was coming out of the house with Spencer and Toby, laughing at something they said.
“Let me go take care of introductions, “she said.” You just…have a drink. Before you break something in your face from actually smiling.”
