I received this book from the publisher/Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Two friends, one summer! I just HAD to request this book from Edelweiss when I saw it there. I really love a good chapter book series and I could definitely use a new one!

In this one we meet Nour and August, two besties who are a bit bored with the summer. Well, especially Nour is bored. She wants to do something grand. Something to escape the heat of the house and just have fun. So when August leads her to a secret place, that is the start of something wonderful and there were many times I just wanted to hop into the book and join them! Because there is a lot of fun happening! For instance there is the building of a tree house, done in secret, well, almost all in secret. I love how inventive and awesome these kids are and that they found the materials + building instructions + more and really went for it. I cannot remember doing that much effort for my tree houses, but then again, mine were pretty shabby I guess. Haha. So I was definitely invested in seeing what they were building and if they would be able to make it grand (and oh yes, readers, they made it grand).

But the tree house isn’t the only thing, yes, it is the biggest thing, but there is also a quest to help out an older lady (she is/was the owner of the plot of land), there is community and a wonderful family, there is food, dreams to be realised, and there is more. This book just made me smile while I was reading.

Plus, I am also happy that the kids did get a bit of a telling off, I was thinking that maybe it wouldn’t happen, but they did. They should have asked at least the adults for things, but then again, I remember being that age and just want to do things without any adults saying something, haha.

The ending just made me smile! There was one moment that had me worried, but it all ended up fine and so I was just enjoying it all. It was really sweet of the kids to do all that!

The illustrations were grand, the style was just so much fun. Though I hope that August gets out a bit more, haha, he was as white as a sheet of paper, even after being in the sun for some time.

I would recommend this book to all and I just cannot wait to see what is next for August and Nour!
