Review for Lenny Lemmon and the Invincible Rat
The first book in the series! This time olden days, rat chaos, and friendship!
After reading the second book (yes, don’t ask but it was not a problem) I was in for more of this series and decided to also pick up the first book! And boy, this was just oodles of fun!
In this one we truly see the chaos that is Lenny Lemmon. It is time for an Olden Timey school event and everyone has brought something along with them. Most of them have brought along just normal items. Oh, but not Lenny and I loved that. He woke up and choose violence (see who knows that meme) and decided to bring a rat with him. Now, I hear you say, but Mehsi, what is so bad about that? Rats are cute? Yes, tame rats. Lenny however has lured a wild rat that lives near his home, with a block of cheese, into an old hamster cage and took that to his school. Yes. So this is one wild rat who longs for his freedom again. And you may guess what happens when the rat gets out. PURE CHAOS. PURE FUN. PURE HILARITY as I was just laughing my butt off. Because this is one rat who is not going to be stopped. But Jess (a new friend) and Lenny will have to go for it and while I wasn’t a fan of how Jess was all about MURDER this and MURDER that, I did like that she wanted to help out and that Lenny went with it. I won’t tell you how it will end, but I can tell you chocolate cakes will die. Chaos will erupt. Locked rooms will happen. It is a hoot!
And in this one we see how Jess got to be Lenny’s friend. I wasn’t such a fan of her in the beginning with how she talked and bragged, but as the story continued I could see another girl, the one we met in the second book and who I liked. I could definitely understand why she did what she did in this one. I do love how strong she was and how she kept going, a lot of kids would just have given up when faced with a clearly invincible enemy, haha.
We also have Lenny’s other friend Sam. He was OK in this book. I could understand that he wasn’t too happy with Lenny finding another friend, but hey, that is how it is. You are allowed to have more friends. I did like that he stuck his ground quite a few times!
Oh, and of course, just like the last book there is also the eternal battle versus the other class 5 which just made me laugh. I would so love to be part of the perfect class and just wreck havoc chuckles evilly.
I really loved every bit of the book including the delightful fun illustrations by James Lancett! It was a hoot and I read this one in one go. It was just too fun to stop reading.
All in all, I need the newest book! Which, by the time this review pops up, will have been released. EEP! I cannot wait! I would highly recommend this fun, hilarious, whack the rat, full of friendship and heart book to everyone!
