Review for I Don’t Want to Share My Bear!

I Don't Want to Share My Bear by R.K. Vetter, Boy in the garden with tools and a teddy bearI received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

Welcome to the second of three reviews for 3 books in the I Don’t Want to-series by R.K. Vetter! There are 8 books in total, check out the author’s blog so you can see them all. Check out my first review (I Don’t Want to Eat That Thing!) here. Look forward to my review for a third book coming at the end of May/early June.

In this book we encounter something that kids (and adults) experience, we don’t always want to share something. And in the case of the MC here, he doesn’t want to share his bear! And can you blame him? I mean, that is his precious bear, the one he hugs, the one he sleeps with, it is his treasure. I also had (have I should say as it still has a place in my house) a special bear. I wouldn’t want to share that one, it is too precious.

So, I could understand that he wasn’t happy with his mom (and can I say I loved that his dog agreed with him?). But I LOVED his big big plan and I love the message of the book! A lot of books I read about sharing or the messages you see everywhere about sharing is generally that you just have to give up your treasures because you NEED to share or else you don’t care. And those don’t make me happy. Sharing can be good, but if you have a special toy, or something you are connected with, you shouldn’t be forced to share it or part with it. So I loved the message in this one, because you know it is OK if you don’t want to share, but you got to have a plan to make things fair. And in the case of this one it means that our MC worked his butt of to make sure his brother could also have something of his that was equivalent to what our MC had. I loved seeing the whole family in the end, I thought it was just going to be our MC, maybe a dad/mom because he is so young, but no the whole family is there and it just made my heart melt! So cute! So sweet! I hope both boys are very happy!

And the illustrations were also just so much fun, I really like the style of them.

All in all, this is my second book in the I Don’t Want series and I cannot wait to read the third book. Plus, I will definitely be checking out the other books in this series. And I would recommend them to all. There is a nice variety of topics so you can pick one that fits with you perfectly.
