Spell the Month in Books May 2024

Afternoon all!!

Nichijou, Calendar

Welcome to the easiest month in Spell the Month in Books series, hi May!!

Yes, this is by far my favourite month of the year. Just three books to find! Yes, this girl likes a challenge, but sometimes easy is also good~ Well, OK, it wasn’t 100% easy as I just wasn’t finding a book with a Y, but eventually, diving deeper in to my Need-To-Buy shelf I found one! The other two books I picked for today’s post are books I got on my To-Be-Read shelves and I hope to read them very soon!

Let me know what everyone picked for this fun post + what you think of my choices~ How is everyone’s May going so far?

Written to appeal to the ADHD brain, ADHD is Awesome is the engaging, uplifting antidote to traditional ADHD books (which, let’s be honest if you have ADHD you’d never read anyway). If you have ADHD, you live in a world that wasn’t designed for you—a world where you’re expected to sit still, stay quiet, and focus up and where, because of the way your brain is wired, you can feel like you’re failing at life. You are not failing at life. You are awesome. In their first bestselling book, Everybody Fights , award-winning YouTubers Kim and Penn Holderness of the Holderness Family (8 million followers) upended thinking about fighting in relationships. Now, they are on a mission to reboot how we think about ADHD. As always, they are doing it by looking in the mirror, because they don’t study ADHD, they live it. Penn has walked the ADHD journey for many years, and his wife, Kim, has learned how to support him with grace and good humor. Drawing on their often-hilarious from-the-trenches insights that have made them beloved content creators and the expertise of their network of doctors, researchers, and specialists, Kim and Penn provide fun, easy-to-digest sections, You are part of a tribe of massively creative, fun-loving, funny, innovators and non-linear thinkers who aren’t easily discouraged. Having ADHD can be scary, but it comes with incredible gifts including creativity, hyperfocus, and energy. Welcome to the club.

Youth Group by Jordan Morris, Bowen McCurdy, Two characters holding flames and a crossWhen Kay reluctantly agreed to join the youth group at Stone Mission Church in Orange County California, she expected the Jesus talk and the dorky singalongs and the colorful posters about dodging temptation. What she didn’t expect was to stumble on her youth group leaders, Meg and Cortland, in the middle of a read-deal exorcism. Turns out they’re both soldiers in a secret organization of demon hunters in a war that’s heating up, and even if Kay wanted to stay on the sidelines, she doesn’t have a choice – she’s a “Blight,” a human who demons can’t possess, and apparently that’s made her a target.

Will Kay find her place in a world that’s so much more God-fearing and monster-fighting than what she’s used to? Will the Stone Mission youth group find common cause with their badass peers of other faiths? Or will a pack of small-time demons use Blights like Kay as the key to starting some real big trouble?
