Review: Maps for Penguins
10 animals. 10 maps. 10 habitats. And 40+ pages of gorgeous art!
I got this one from the library in Dutch but enjoyed this one so much I just had to write a review for it and make sure that more people find out about this GORGEOUS book!
Because if you like animals and are curious about their migrations and habitats and also LOVE LOVE gorgeous art? Then this is your book! In this gorgeous and colourful book we meet 10 animals from Tigers to Elephants to of course the cover animal, the penguin! Each animal gets 4 pages in this book. The first two pages show migration paths/maps/habitat stuff and on the next two pages we get even more information on that specific animal and all that makes the animal tick. More about habitats, how they keep finding their ways, breeding/hatching eggs, about group sizes, what they eat, about how they find food (because for some it is a whole dance to find food), how things work for these animals, and more. There is never a dull moment and the information is brought in a fun way that makes you want to keep on reading, keep on learning.
I really loved the format and I had oodles of fun reading this one. A lot of the information wasn’t new to me, but I did learn some new things.
The art was absolutely stunning. They were colourful. Fun. And I also loved that each page had a border around it fitting with the animal! Each page was just a picture waiting to be framed.
All in all, I would highly recommend this delightful and gorgeous book to all. This is perfect for kids who want to know more about habitats and migration.
