Review: Strangeville School Is Definitely Not Cursed

Strangeville School Is Definitely Not Cursed by Darcy Miller, Brett Helquist, Three kids in a school hallway trying to get away from KrakenWe are back at Strangeville School! Come say ARRRR! There be leeches! And oh yes, a glowing lost-and-found-box which may or may not be cursed, YARRR!

The newest Strangeville and LORD I am so happy it is finally out. Paperbacks just take WAYYYY to long. I am considering to buy the next book as a hardcover, because I seriously don’t want to wait another 2 years for a freaking paperback.

🥰 The lost-and-found-box, the way it glows, and oh yes, the whole curse of course. I loved the idea of a lost-and-found-box but just a bit different. Things just aren’t right if you find your missing item in there. Not to mention.. steal and a curse is coming for you, and well, actually everyone.
🥰 I love that this one takes place over one day. It felt a bit longer I have to say, but everything in this book is just one strange strange day at Strangeville School!
🥰 I loved finding out more about the teachers, in this case Janitor Gary and the PE teacher. We learn some new facts about these two and also see how they were the first to find that Lost-and-Found-Box, but thought it was a treasure. Oh yes, and I definitely hadn’t expected the PE teacher to have that hobby. I do wonder if the kids were exaggerating in regards to how long ago the two have been friends, you know like how kids think 30 is old? Because I don’t think its been 50 years, even with a strange school like this, people who are 60 don’t look like that. XD
🥰 The reference to Christine! LOVED THAT! It made me chuckle.
🥰 How many batteries does Stella have and how does she replenish them?
🥰 Seeing the curse take shape more and more. From just shanties to very fishy food to water everywhere and MORE. Things got more and more dangerous and you know, I have a few questions on why would you let your kid go to this school, haha.
🥰 Despite all his anxiety and how at times I just want to shake Harvey a bit, I did like him. Plus, he is growing and that makes me happy. I could also understand why he took that compass, given how it all ties to his grandfather + all their dreams/hopes. I loved that Harvey didn’t give up. Yes, he is afraid a lot, but he sticks to his friends, figures out how to do things, and tries his best.
🥰 The announcements in between chapters were just fantastic. They always make me laugh, or go OH NO.
🥰 The illustrations! So fabulous! So fun! I need more of this illustrator, he is one of my favourites.
🥰 The Basement and all that happened there! There was just a ton of things happening and it got very exciting!
🥰 The ending along with Picture Day.
🥰 The parrot/Percy. I hope he has gotten quite a few cookies for all he did in the basement, diet or not.

🤔 I am still on the fence about Nevaeh. On the one hand she really turned out to be a good character and a good friend, but at times she was just a bit too much with how smart she was. Those who know me know that I am generally not really keen on genius characters, especially since they often have the attitude/expect people to know what they are talking about and then are disappointed when they don’t get it.

But all in all, I need the next book in the series and I so so hope that we get it soon because that last bit of the book promised some fun upcoming fun things! I would recommend this series to all. So much strangeness, so much fun!
