Review
I received this book from Hygge Book Tours in exchange of an honest review.
💖 First up, I really like the cover! Seeing Star in front of the tree with on the one side the nighttime and the other the day.
💖 Next up, the font! A special font doesn’t always work, but in this case I really enjoyed it! It really made for a better reading experience as it fitted so well with the pixie/fairy theme.
💖 I love reading about Star and her family. Her grandma and her farts when she drinks a certain tea (PRAPPPPP). Scavenging at night to find food. About their home.
💖 Star and her big big dreams. All Star wants is to check out day, but her mom has warned her multiple times that that is a no, because of the humans + that Star’s dad disappeared one day never to be seen again. I loved that despite these warnings Star was lured by something yummy (and seriously, I would have also be lured, haha).
💖 Seeing Rose and Star meet up and I loved that Rose wasn’t like most kids (aka try to tell everyone about her new friend) and that she helped out Star make her dreams of seeing the dayside of things true. Even if that meant a lot of chaos. I loved seeing them get closer and I just adored the friendship.
💖 The chaos! Seriously, at times yes, I was a bit annoyed with Star that she didn’t seem to listen or seem to think things through (I know she is a pixie, but Rose was pretty clear in explanations), but I guess it made for hilarious scenes with her, instead of going to the sink, taking a bath in the toilet… and all that happened there.
💖 I loved that Star knew that she had done something wrong and that she needed to apologize/help. That made me happy. That she understood that. Didn’t just go full on without a care, but actually thought about what happened and the consequences for Rose.
💖 It was so much fun how creative Star is and how she loves painting! I also adored that moment she saw real paints (so far she has had the materials of… a berry).
💖 How everything came together in the end. There were some exciting moments and then we get some revelations that made me super happy and tied it all back together. I won’t spoil anything, but I am sure other readers will also love this ending.
💖 The last bit in the tree house, does this mean a second book? Ah? Please? I would love more adventures with Rose and Star~!
💖 The illustrations in the beginning didn’t always mesh with me, but I have to say that I grew to like them quite a bit.
All in all, I had so much fun. This made me laugh! I loved the friendship between Star and Rose they make quite a good duo together. I would recommend this one.
Star, the night pixie, is tired of hiding – from daylight, humans and Granny’s dandelion farts.
She wishes life in the garden was more exciting. So, when she bumps into a human, Star ignores Mum’s warnings and dives into her new friend’s world.
A wild adventure follows as Star discovers chocolate cake, toilets and just how dangerous day can be…
